Button visible based on the Attachment DataCard

Hi Experts!

Is it possible to make a button visible only when an item in the attachment was just added?

I have an EditForm connected to a Gallery. Once the user selects an employee, the information is displayed in the EditForm. I would like that once the user adds an attachment inside the EditForm, a button turns visible, in order to submit the new information into the SP List. This button must be only visible when there is a new attachment added. If the user selects a record within the Gallery and does not update the attachment file, this button must not be visible.

I tried the below workaround without success since the button is visible every time the DataCard has an attachment included.

--> On the "OnAddFile" from the AttachmentDataCard:

      Set(varButtonVisible, "Yes")

---> On the "OnVisible" from the button:

       If(varButtonVisible="Yes", true, false)

Thank you 🙂

Put this code in the OnAddFile property of the attachments control

Set(showButton, true)

Then put this code in the Visible property.  No IF statement is necessary.

showButton

To rehide the button put this code in the appropriate place.  Maybe in the OnSuccess property of the form or the OnHidden property of the screen.

Set(showButton, false)

HI @vsolanon ,

I will call your Attachments control Attach1 - change this to your control name.

On the OnVisible of your form, put

UpdateContext({vAttNo:CountRows(Attach1.Attachments)})

This will give you the number of attachments when you open the screen.

Then on the OnAddFile of the button

UpdateContext({vAttNo2:CountRows(Attach1.Attachments)})

The Visible property of the button would then be

vAttach2 > vAttach

This is a Boolean result which is reflected in the Visible property of the button

Hi @mdevaney @WarrenBelz, thank you both for your prompt reply 🙂

I used the below information, however I noticed once the button is visible the first time, it continues vissible until I pressed it. Was wondering if I was able to only make it visible based on the item selected within the Gallery.

I test an scenario where the user select an employee within the Gallery and then add an attachment. Once the attachment is added, the button turns vissible. (up to now is working great!). However, if the user does not pressed the button, but instead, select another employee withing the Gallery without pressing the button before, the button continues active (which is not correct because the user has not yet update that record).

Put this code in the OnAddFile property of the attachments control

Set(showButton, true)

Visible property

showButton&&CountRows(DataCardAttachment.Attachments)>0

OnHidden property of the screen.

Set(showButton, false)

Thank you!!

Hi @vsolanon ,

You are almost there with a combination of mine and @mdevaney 's solutions.

All you have to do now is put in the OnSelect of the gallery

Set(showButton, false)

and it will be initially hidden on any new record selected. It would also be a good idea to set the attachment CountRows here if you are using this and are on a new record.

@vsolanon
You must put this code in the OnSelect property of your gallery.

Set(showButton, false)

I assumed your gallery was on another screen. You can remove any code from the OnHidden property of the screen.

Thank you both so much! it worked like a charm 🙂

@WarrenBelz I am new using CountRows, coulde you please guide me through on the formula I need to add inside the Gallery?

Thanks!

@vsolanon
Awesome! If it worked suggest you mark any posts as the solution that got you to your goal.

Hi @vsolanon ,

The CountRows code on the attachment numbers will work in this case anywhere as you are referring to a control with a name (it will even work from another screen).

You can trigger the code as part of the OnSelect of the gallery.

As my colleague @mdevaney has mentioned, if you are happy with the end result, you can accept both solutions as it was a bit of a team effort.
