Calling a Power Automate Flow with Power FX?

I am looking at the new preview functionality to allow me to create custom command bar items in Dataverse/Dynamics MDAs.

I notice that i can call a Power FX function.  Can anyone help with a Power FX function to call a Power Automate flow?

I searched for available documentation, but I specially lack the possibility to reference flow from the new command bar designer.

It is even not a question of error: in the Command Bar designer, I am not able to reference/call the flow. Unlike the default canvas app designer, there is no button to inserts a flow. Or an app name to reference...

So I am basicly wondering how you can call a flow from the command designer

Hi @TrD 

Command Bar designer is for Model-driven apps (which is CRM) only. Not for Canvas App.  We are using a tool called ribbon workbench which was developed by one of the MVP for menu bar customization. This command bar is replaced and developed by MS.

However,  the initial question of @ghdunn was how to call Power automate instant flow from the preview Command Bar designer for MDA's...

I use Ribbon Workbench myself,  but have not found a way to directly trigger a power automate flow, whether or not in combination with some PowerFX.

Hi,

it's not a direct way, but you can build a flow which has the 'When a HTTP request ist Received' trigger. Then write Javascript Webresource, which makes an HTTP Request to that Flow and put the JScript on your button.

This way you can execute a Flow from a command bar button.

Hi @TrD,

Not sure you resolved it but a nice way is to update the selected item (eg status reason) with PowerFX and have your flow trigger on update of that field/column.
