Can I turn off checker

Is it possible to turn off the checker in Powerapps?

I didn't even realize that this was what was happening... my app has lots of controls and when I open to edit, the editor didn't behave as expected for a very long time. Then I saw that the app checker was running... as soon as it was done, the editor worked normally. Frustrating when you need to just pop in and make a quick change but have to wait for 20 minutes until the app checker says everything is fine (which you knew already).

Is the App also pulling in data while the Checker is running?

I have noticed that sometimes where there is a filter based on a variable and that variable is not yet initialised (Null) PowerApps will pull back all data up to the delegable limit. If this is a pattern you are using on many screens, and if you are connect to something like D365 which can return hundreds of fields of each entity, Studio might be pulling back lots of data and just 'freezing' while it does so.

The above does not affect running in Play mode because each screen is only evaluated/rendered as it is displayed (or referenced) so the variable is populated before the filter is 'run'.

i have a same Issue, is frustrating. i spend 20 or 30 minutes waiting de app checker end. Any response from Microsoft?

I am facing the same problem here. My app is integrated with Git. When I open the app with edit mode, it takes about an hour to get ready. Besides, I have to wait to complete the"checking" for almost 20 mins. Whenever I type something in the formula bar, "Checking" is appeared, and have to wait 10 or 20 mins. It is really frustrating and wastes my time. 

There should be an option to disable this App Checker's "Checking".

There isn't a way to turn off the app checker... or at least I've not found a way.

However, there are a few ways to mitigate the annoyance.

I've found turning off auto-save (every 2 minutes) in the general settings helps a little - each time it saves it seems to run the checker and you don't always notice it. What seems to happen is that as you continue to code the checker gets bogged down and gets slower each time. The downside is that you can end up losing work if your connection goes down, so you have to remember to manually save more frequently. It's also a good idea to save, close and reopen the app regularly to clear out the cache etc.

The biggest improvement is with how you edit the code.

If you have a lot of code in one place, say OnStart or OnVisible, changes will trigger the checker to check all of the code down stream. This is particularly onerous if you have created global variables or collections that are used throughout your app.

What I find particularly annoying is that the checker kicks in before you have had chance to finish your changes and stops you editing. Only to tell you there is a problem. You then finish off what you were doing and then it checks again. I've found breaking the code into smaller chunks (on dummy pages) makes editing quicker. I can then combine the code back together. Alternatively, for really troublesome code I now use a stripped down test app to work on the isolated code and then copy & paste it back once finished. This way the checker only needs to run once in the main app... and should be all good.
