Can a power app be create to navigate excel files

Ok so here is the deal.  Boss is wanting me to create a app for his phone where he can basically navigate through a directory and open excel files on his phone.  Thought it would be easy but so far it is not.  Structure pretty simple Main folder> 3 folders with years 2015-2017> then 12 excel files in each folder total of 36 files can this be done or ?

What do you mean when you say that the "app has 3 files"?

It would be easier for me if we started from scratch and followed my suggested approach, repeated below.  It should take no more than 30 minutes to implement, and then we see if this does what you need.

Please let me know if you need guidance with step 1

1) Upload the years, months and links as static data to your app

2) On the single screen of the app have 3 controls:

a) A dropdown to select the year (2015, 2016 or 2017)

b) A second dropdown to select the month within the year

c) A button to open the selected Excel file via the Launch function OR an HTML control with the link to the selected Excel file

Just meant I built a App in Power apps Home screen i placed 3 buttons listed with the years.  Each button links to a new screen with the months listed as buttons as well just need to figure out how to link those buttons to the files in my one drive.

need a little help with the uploading as static data part i suppose.

OK, I will write later or tomorrow am...

Thanks for the help, I Started a new App adding a DropList instead, created 3 more screens named them 2015, 2016, 2017.  My drop down list code needs a little help If(DDChoices.Selected.Value = "2015",Navigate(2015, ScreenTransition.Fade),(DDChoices.Selected.Value = "2016",Navigate(2016, ScreenTransition.Fade),(DDChoices.Selected.Value = "2017",Navigate(2017, ScreenTransition.Fade))  am i on the right track or way off my Drop down list name is DDChoices

Nevermind changed that works fine now lol

Putting Buttons in for the Month so January then in the OnSelect Command

This maybe the wrong way but say i have a link like https://blahblahblahblah.com that is a file share link from oneDrive to a excel file.  how would i write the Download Lauch Param code???

So far I have download("The link"), Launch ( then what to open excel in office 365), Param(???No Clue Here).

Thanks your awesome lol

Hi @Jparker I am now active again, I am on Luxembourg time.

I would suggest that we start from the back to see what works best.  Please try this (screenshot below):

1) Obtain the link to one of your Excel files, let's say it is "https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/abc/shared%20documents/January2016.xlsx" or the equivalent for one drive

2) Create a new blank phone app

3) On the one and only screen create just two controls:

a) An HTML control and set its HtmlText property to this (please note the single quotes around the address itself):

"<a href='https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/abc/shared%20documents/January2016.xlsx'>January 2016</a>"

b) A button and set its OnSelect property to this:

Launch("https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites/abc/shared%20documents/January2016.xlsx")

Then launch the app on your moblie and try both the link and the button.  I just tried with my iPhone and the correct file opened directly in the browser (Safari) and it didn't even ask for a login (I presume because I was already logged into Safari, so that in your case it may the first time ask for a login).

Please let me know how this works for you, and depending on that we can work out what to do next.

I actually got this to work last night, but on android my excel sheet workbook will only show one sheet.  If you request the desktop site it will give you the bottom bar.  Is there anyway you can tell it to open excel in phone app instead of the browser??

Hi @Jparker  I am not aware of a way to specify which app to open a site/file in.
