Can not figure how to keep Today Function be triggered and saved on a datacard

Hello Everybody,

I am building this customized form from a SharePoint list where I will need the Today() or Now() function to be triggered either by a change on a Combo Box or the click of a button (Hopefully the one where we submit the form to the list).

I am attempting to set a variable to the Now() function once the user selected a button. The variable (TiemStamp) is placed as a default on an input data card from the SharePoint list. Once you click on the button, you can see the value date (TimeStamp) where I want it to be, I submit the form and you can see the variable saved on the list dashboard, but after you go back to the form to edit, the variable is gone and the input empty.

Here is the code I have on the On Select property of the button that should trigger and update the variable.

UpdateContext({ TimeStamp: Blank() });
UpdateContext({ TimeStamp: Text(Now(), "yyyy-mm-dd, mm:ss") });

 The default property of the data card in which I wish to save the TimeStamp variable is as follows.

TimeStamp

Any help with this matter would be appreciated. I have tried multiple things but cant get to figure this out.

 @00236123 Set the default property to (avoid the variable)

Text(Now(), "yyyy-mm-dd, mm:ss")

Hello @CNT ,

Thank you for your response, I've tried that but every time you open the form the Variable (value) is updated. My goals is to have the value (date) consistent unless the user triggers a condition like a button.

@00236123 Then try using a global variable,

Set(TimeStamp, Text(Now(), "yyyy-mm-dd, mm:ss"));

I've tried that but my value keeps clearing when I open the form back up and submit it.

They way I have this set up is as follows.

I have a button that updates the variable TimeStamp with the condition...

 (picture of the button)00236123_4-1682599605188.png

Set(TimeStamp, Text(Now(), "yyyy-mm-dd, mm:ss"));

On the default property of my Test Date column I have the TimeStamp variable.

Once I submit the form (with a different button), the date is saved as planned. But if I go back and submit the form again without updating the TimeStamp variable, the TimeStamp from the Test date column is gone.

First time I submit the form after triggering the TimeStamp variable 00236123_5-1682599812987.png.

After I go back to the form and submit, but the variable was is not updated 00236123_6-1682599841171.png.

My goal is to have the variable TimeStamp  only be updated when the user wants it to be updated. It should be a constant value until that happens.

Thank you for your assistance.

@00236123 What do you have in the update property of the Datacard ?

I have not messed with the Update property of the Datacard.

As of now the that property is DataCardValue_TestDate.Text

00236123_0-1682614011527.png

DataCardValue_TestDate is the name of the Text Input of the Test Date Datacard.

@00236123 Put TimeStamp  there.

Unfortunately, that did not work 😞
