Can not show the value for final level in edit mode if three level nesting drop-down/Combox controls

There are 3 columns as below and stored in SQL Table:Allowance Grade.
User can select the corresponse title in line item level after type has been selected in header level.

After Title selected in line item, The coresponse AllowanceGrade list then can be selected in same line item interface.
I have setup nesting drop-down/Combox  controls for user select and I can select in newform mode correctly now.  But in edit mode, the final level "AllowanceGrade" don't show the value except I click again in title field.

Could you someone please advise on how to simulate the behavior(Select(Combox1) in edit mode)?  I don't know where to setup  due to there is not "OnVisible" in this form.   Thanks in advance.

2:  can select coresponse Title (Combox)  in line item in new mode.  can show the value in edit mode too (ok for this step)

3: After Title selected, I can select corresponse allowance grade too in new mode.  (OK for this step)

But after I saved and open this line  in edit mode again,  this field don't show any value except I select the title again.

Hi @seewo ,

Could you please share more details about your scenario? What is the exact table structure of your SQL table? I can see multiple lines of texts in a single field, is it true of your scenario? Are values in the AllowanceGrade column multiple lines of texts as well?

In addition, the saved value in your screen shot is 150, however, it seems you selected C2-150.00 in the Combo box and saved. The different format will cause this issue as well. Or are you using a Split function here to get the number displayed in Gallery? Why different numbers have same prefixes?

Please share some screenshots with actual table but test data, and formulas in each Combo box Items property.

Best regards,

hi @v-jefferni

Thank you reply.
This is an approval app that provides benefits to factory workers. There are different levels of nomination (Allowance grade) for different Title according to different type which saved in SQLTable: AllowanceGrade as below:

seewo_0-1666832047447.png

for each ticket,  user can nominate employee upgrade from Current to New grade. and saved at [Allowance Level 1] /[Allowance Level 1 - To Be] field separately.   I use "split" function to get the real money and saved at [Allowance Amount 1]:
'Allowance Amount 1': Value(
Last(
Split(
DataCardValue23.Selected.'Allowance Grade',
"-"
)
).Result
)

line item SQL table structure: Allowance Line Items

1:  For type field, I setup collect: Coltype1 and use it combox as below:

the  drop-down field for current as below:

Hi @seewo ,

So, when a new line item is saved in the Allowance Line Items table, there would be a [Allowance Level 1] field populated with the selected Allowance Grade from the New form. In Edit form, what you want is to automatically populate the Current combo box with this [Allowance Level 1] field value.

Please try and setup below formula on DefaultSelectedItems of the "Current" combo box:

ThisItem.'Allowance Level 1'

thanks for your reply.

Type and Title is combox, and the current/New is drop-down icon.  So Current field I setup "Default" as below and the issue exist yet.

Hi @seewo ,

Allowance Amount 1 column has only numbers, which do not exist in Items of the Dropdown, and this is why the numbers cannot be default value.

Hi @v-jefferni :
the below two fields selected .  It means this user nominated from Current to New grade:
Allowance Level 1                 --> it is for Current  ( Default:Not Applicable)

Allowance Level 1 -To Be      --> it is for Now      ( Selected: A2-150).

After "Allowance Level 1 -To Be" selected,  "Allowance Amount 1" use split function get the number:150 and saved when click Next.
So:
Allowance Amount 1 column has only numbers, and it do not exist in Items of the Dropdown.

Hi @seewo ,

I understand the logic. So, Default of Current Dropdown should be:

If(Form5.Mode = FormMode.New, "Not Applicable", ThisItem.'Allowance Level 1')

The point is the value selected in the Dropdown, no matter it is a default value, or a value saved in data source, it should lay in the table of Items of the Dropdown, otherwise it cannot be shown.

vjefferni_0-1666936755674.png

Using Combo box can work around this, however, it will also mess your table up.

Question is: if you have selected say A2-150 in Current in new mode, when open the form in edit mode, what value would you like to see in the Dropdown as the default value, A2-150 or 150? This value is now saved in Allowance Level 1 column as well. If you would like to display the number 150 which is saved in Allowance Amount 1 column, use a Label is the better choice, since this should not be modified by the user but just show them the current value, the Text property of this Label can use the formula in your last screen shot.

@v-jefferni
In fact,  the default is currect and I can show the correct value in edit mode but need me click again in "Title" combox again (can select any value). if I selected say A1-30 in Current/A2-50 in Now in new mode, when open the form in edit mode,  the value will be show blank excep I selected any value in title,  the previously value A1-30/A2-50 then showed in in the Dropdown in current/new field.
1:  when enter below screen in edit mode, the current/now value is blank:

seewo_0-1667196330890.png

2: After select any value(Driver in new mode/but Transport worker in edit mode), the previouly selected value then show as below and this is my problem.

seewo_1-1667196494091.png

if I selected say A2-150 in Current in new mode, when open the form in edit mode,  the value will be show blank excep I selected any value in title,  the previously value A2-150 then showed in in the Dropdown.

Hi @seewo ,

You have Items of Current Dropdown rely on the selections in Title Combo box and Type Combo box.

vjefferni_1-1667197671542.png

When open the form in Edit mode, there should be a Title and Type being selected by default because they are saved in data source. Please check DefaultSelectedItems of the two Combo boxes, see if it is set to ThisItem.Title and ThisItem.Type

To be clear, these cascading dropdowns will rely on each other when in edit mode, especially for Items and Default/DefaultSelectedItems properties. Please consider post the codes for each control in your reply so that we can go through all over the scenario and find the issue if the App still cannot work properly.
