Can't get Users related to a Manager I select in a combo box

Hi,

I have this problem:

- there is a combo box (CB_manager) where multiple selection is allowed and you can choose between all managers of my company

- in DB, I have a table that consists of many columns, including "Email" (of the user) and "Manager" (which is/are his manager)

- selecting some managers from CM_manager, I create a collection as follows:

   ClearCollect(tmpManager, Split(Concat(CB_manager.SelectedItems, email&","), ","));

- then, I try to create a new collection in which I pick users that have these selected managers from the combo box in his "manager" column, as follows:

  ClearCollect(tmpUsers, Filter(DB_Users, tmpMan in Split(Manager, Email &",")))

BUT it doesn't work, how can i do?

Hi @andrea_ginocchi ,

  1. Ensure that the field 'Area_Demandante' is indeed not required in the SharePoint list settings.
  2. Refresh the data source in Power Apps by going to the 'Data' panel, selecting the SharePoint list, and using the 'Refresh' option.
  3. If the issue persists, save and close your Power Apps session, then reopen it to ensure it's not a caching issue.
  4. Check for any formulas in Power Apps that might set the field as required, such as in form validation rules or the OnSubmit property of a form.
  5. If the error remains, consider removing the data source entirely and then re-adding it to Power Apps, which can help reset the data structure.

If all else fails, you may need to contact Microsoft Support or seek further assistance on the Power Apps Community forums, as there may be a more complex issue at play.

Hi @andrea_ginocchi ,

Collect Selected Managers:

  • First, create a collection of the selected managers from the combo box. Make sure you're collecting the right attribute, such as email or name, that matches the manager information in your user database.
  • Example code:

ClearCollect(tmpManager, CB_manager.SelectedItems);

Filter Users Based on Managers:

  • Next, use a filtering formula to create a collection of users whose manager matches any of the selected managers in tmpManager.
  • Assuming both your users' database and the combo box store manager information as email, the code will look something like this:

ClearCollect(tmpUsers, Filter(DB_Users, Manager.Email in tmpManager.Email));

  • Replace Manager.Email and tmpManager.Email with the actual field names used in your app.
  • Handle Multiple Managers:

    • If a user can have more than one manager and this information is stored as a comma-separated list, your filtering logic will need to be more complex to handle such cases.
  • Testing:

    • After setting up this logic, test it by selecting different managers in the combo box. Check if tmpUsers collection gets updated with the correct users.
  • Data Structure Consideration:

    • If your manager information in the user database is not straightforward (like a simple email match), you might need to adjust your data structure or add more logic to effectively compare the manager data

Best Regards,

Hassan Raza

Hi @andrea_ginocchi ,

Try This

First, correct the tmpManager collection to hold only the emails of the selected managers:

ClearCollect(tmpManager, CB_manager.SelectedItems.email);

Then, filter the DB_Users table to get users who have a manager in the tmpManager collection:

ClearCollect(tmpUsers, Filter(DB_Users, Manager.Email in tmpManager));

This will create a collection tmpUsers containing users who are managed by the selected managers.

Hi @andrea_ginocchi ,

Collect the selected manager's emails into a collection:

ClearCollect(tmpManager, CB_manager.SelectedItems.Email);

Use the Filter function to retrieve users whose manager is in the tmpManager collection. Assuming that the Manager column in DB_Users contains a single email address of the manager:

ClearCollect(tmpUsers, Filter(DB_Users, Manager in tmpManager));

If this helps solve your problem, please mark it as the solution and leave a thumbs up. Thank you! 😊
