Cannot get LOOKUP function to work with SharePoint List

Hi Community,

Building an app that requires that various fields are pre-filled (based on a lookup within a SharePoint list) once the user selects a certain account. The account selection is done by means of a dropbox list and I have attempted to use the following formula to obtain a result:

The setup is as follows:
SharePoint List with Account (primary field) and Account_Name (secondary field).

Formula used:
LookUp(InputBalances;ACCOUNT=CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1.Selected;InputBalances.ACCOUNT_NAME)

I basically run into two errors - the above formula simply returns to me that it cannot compare numbers to records. If I change the CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1.Selected to a value the formula goes through but results in a blank row (even though I am sure that the account exists in the table).

You will need to specify the column of the Selected record of your CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1 control in the formula.

This is completely dependent on the Item property of the control.  What is that property?

The combobox to which the above refers (CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1) is fed by the same SharePoint listing and simply has InputBalances.ACCOUNT as an Items property. That is what makes it strange - all fields and functions are contained around the same SharePoint List but somehow they get lost in translation..

So then there is no need for looking up the value again if the datasource is the same and the combobox already has the value you want. 

You can simply refer to CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1.Selected.ACCOUNT_NAME

It does not seem to recognize the ACCOUNT_NAME value in this case. I have added an example snip of how the table looks - effectively the combobox CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1allows the user to select the account value 1001000 by means of the Item Property InputBalances.ACCOUNT. What I want the second field to provide me with is Goodwill - Gross which is the second field in the table. I thought to use the lookup function as it needs to offset the column but so far I am only returning blanks and/or comparability errors.

Change your Items property of the Combobox to :  InputBalances

Currently you are narrowing the results to only the ACCOUNT and losing the associated column ACCOUNT_NAME

You can now get the associated ACCOUNT_NAME by referencing the CreateTicketFormAccountDataCardValue_1.Selected.ACCOUNT_NAME value.

So I have tried these steps and now the following occurs - having changed the Items property of the Combobox enables users to select an Account_Name (second column in dataset) instead of an account. I cannot seem to change this as overruling the Displayfields and Searchfields will simply cause them to reset back to Account_Name. The second field now seems to be properly linked and I can see that the steps in the formula eventually result in an Account_Name. However, the field itself remains blank even when I change the account above.

Seems that I am getting closer but sadly I am not there yet.

Try changing the fields shown in the Edit Fields part of the Combobox properties pane on the right.

Managed to solve the issue over the weekend (with the tips you mentioned above!) - turns out the original formula ( the lookup itself) requires the last field to be outside of the brackets in order to work. Eventually the formula picked up and can now easily be altered for future purposes - thanks again!
