Hi everyone, Im looking at creating an example for card to card (page to page) branching according to card specific questions and answers (yes or no)
I need to be able to select a button and choose between yes or no and move to the next step accordingly by step index number (not navigate).
Is there a similar example to look at?
Thank you in advance Michael
Hi @Michail_Koumpas ,
As you cannot refer to any Power Apps elements (controls, screens etc) dynamically, you would have to hard-code it (if number 1, navigate screen 2 etc). You could do this off a table, but the principal is the same.
Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.
Actually...had to jump in on this one...Yes, you absolutely can do this in PowerApps with no hard coding. It is with a dynamic variable (my own naming). (**bleep** I wish I could find the time to finish these videos!)
For one of the videos -
I have a generic survey app that uses this very principal.
What it does is:
1) THE ADMIN APP There is an admin app which I can go into and define a survey/form flow. This includes questions, and branching conditions. One of the Survey forms defined in the admin is modeled around the Employee Engagement Survey Sample app in PowerApps (as far as the look and questions)
In that, the first question is "What is your role". The next question is "What departments do you work with"
In the admin app, I define that second question (letter A in the image) to only show if the chosen role from #1 is a particular type (Letter D in the image)
Other features include the ability to reference entered values from previous questions (Letter C) and to also control what type of Question display it is (Letter B). Options currently include:
Filed order can be adjusted and altered as well as branching and jumping.
All of the configurations are stored in a list.
2) THE APP for the actual app, either the user chooses the Survey form they want to take or some other means of forcing it is done. It loads the configuration and then starts the survey based on the config of the survey form.
Nothing is hard coded. It works completely generically from the configuration file.
So in the sample survey form, there is a question for What Role are you. If the person chooses a Manager or Senior manager Role, then they are asked what departments do they work with in that role.
Another question is how many hours do you work on email. If the person chooses more than 8, then they are asked what they do for that time (personal or business). If less than 8, then they do not see that questions.
The survey goes on and on with lots of those kind of examples.
Here is a little screen capture of some of it.
The app has one global variable in it and one context variable. All the rest is controlled by a dynamic variable.
This is way beyond the means of description in a forum post. This is really best seen in a Video format or as a Blog (all quite long as there are a lot of "concepts" that most have never heard of).
Any interest in seeing more??
Thanks @RandyHayes ,
This is your "magic" re-purposed Canvas from your Scrollable screen? I leave it to you to explain that one 😈
Yes... it all revolves around a DataCard. One of the BEST things in PowerApp that I ever discovered.
It's not well understood and I *really* need to get some posts or video done on this...way behind on them!
Hi @RandyHayes , Im so blown away.
I tried clicking on your Power App Videos link to find the examples you are referring to...
How do I get the Admn App and the App and learn more?
Thanks,
Michael
Yeah, that is what I was mentioning in the response...I haven't finished these videos yet ☹️
So...hopefully soon.
They are still so early in the production process that if you have some specifics on your scenario that you are trying to do, I can even incorporate them into the video. Sort of a personalized video 😁
I would like a personalized video 😁please send me an email at koumbas.michael@gmail.com to proceed and connect further ASAP.
Best,
Michael
Hi @RandyHayes
Very interested in seeing more of your survey solution and the dynamic variable used for branching. Did you ever make a video/blog on it? Or can you share the app?
Thanks
Matt
