I am struggling to take the 'first steps' of amending a canvas template power app, specifically the 'Annual Leave request' one.
I can amend the visuals, no problem, but I cannot work out how and where to amend the collections which define the categories and amount of leave allocated.
I must be missing something but cannot work out what.
Could someone point me in the right direction please?

No problem, glad I could help!
You can surely do that. Let's say the distinguishing factor among the employees is Employee Type (this field may not exist on the employee record, this is just for reference, you might want to use another field that makes the most sense). Then you can modify the the BalanceCollection (using your example) with something like this:
ClearCollect(BalanceCollection,
{
EmployeeEmail: _myProfile.UserPrincipalName,
EmployeeName: _myProfile.DisplayName ,
Year: Text(Year(Now())),
Vacation:If(_myProfile.EmployeeType = "a" || "b" || "c", 10, If(_myProfile.EmployeeType = "d" || "e" || "f", 8)),
VacationUsed:0,
Sick:8,
SickUsed:0,
Floating:8,
FloatingUsed:0,
JuryDuty:3,
JuryDutyUsed:0,
Bereavement:5,
BereavementUsed:0,
BalanceID:_myProfile.UserPrincipalName&Text(Now(), "[$-en-US]mm-dd-yyyy-hh-mm-ss-fff")
}
)
Let me know if this helps.

Hey @philburns72
have you checked the "App" on top of your screens?
In most of the templates, this is where the collections were stored to get created on app start.
Hope this will help you! 🙂
Regards
Marvin
Both these collections are defined in the OnStart property of the app.
Here's the collection that defines the allocations:
ClearCollect(BalanceCollection,
{
EmployeeEmail: _myProfile.UserPrincipalName,
EmployeeName: _myProfile.DisplayName ,
Year: Text(Year(Now())),
Vacation:10,
VacationUsed:0,
Sick:8,
SickUsed:0,
Floating:8,
FloatingUsed:0,
JuryDuty:3,
JuryDutyUsed:0,
Bereavement:5,
BereavementUsed:0,
BalanceID:_myProfile.UserPrincipalName&Text(Now(), "[$-en-US]mm-dd-yyyy-hh-mm-ss-fff")
}
)
Here's the collection that defines the types:

"Vacation leave is provided to all employees for the purpose of rest, relaxation, and to attend to personal affairs. Vacation balance is acquired over time and can be used at any time."

Some cities and states have specific laws governing sick leave that allow use of sick leave to care for other family members."

As a regular employee working part-time, you will receive the equivalent of eight floating holidays at the beginning of each calendar year in accordance with your reduced work schedule. If you were hired on or after October 16, you will not receive floating holidays for that calendar year. You will receive eight floating holidays in January of the following calendar year. If your floating holidays are not used within the current calendar year, they are forfeited. Unless required by state law, unused floating holidays are not cashed out at termination."

Thanks @MarvinBangert - and is that the best place to amend what's there?
The data in there was slow to expand, when I looked initially I thought it only contained one or two lines.
Thank you @PowerAddict Hardit, it's helpful to see it that way.
But this raises a new question for me - is it possible to set some of the collection in a conditional way?
I mean in this collection all users have Vacation:10
Would it be possible to do something so that staff members a, b and c have 10, but d, e and f have 15? - Where would that control be set?
No problem, glad I could help!
