Hi, I need some help with the following case:
I have a modal (img below), with 4 comboboxes (Control names in order: insertComboPrograma, insertComboProjeto, insertComboInternalProduct (changed bc of company policy) and insertComboDescInternalProduct (changed bc of company policy)), the datasource is a SP list and all fields are Text.
My data has the following properties:
The behavior that i'm looking for, is the following:
Summary: it really does not matter the order of choice, the program needs to always fill the fields, if the result is a single value for each combo.
At this point, I am able to filter the data correctly and show the distinct values, however I can't figure it out a way to force the DefaultSelectedItem to respect my rules. Right now, this is what I have in my properties trigger. Most of my code is similar, but with only a few changes, bases on my intermediate knowledge that i've acquired with not much resource/time:
Items of insertComboPrograma:
OnChange of insertComboPrograma:
Items of insertComboProjeto:
OnChange of insertComboProjeto:
Items of insertComboInternalProduct:
OnChange of insertComboInternalProduct:
Items of insertComboDescInternalProduct:
OnChange of insertComboDescInternalProduct:
hi dorinda, i actually managed to find a "kinda simple" solution, here it goes:
1 - i've created the following script and placed it on my "OnStart" property of the app, one for each combo as the original image shows, since my data for these columns the user can't update or delete inside the app it wont make any differece, but if yours does, try to use it within the "OnVisible" of your screen and the refresh the collection when a button is pressed or some data is inserted, depends on each case.
ClearCollect(colDefaultItem1Ativos, SortByColumns(Distinct(Filter(yourTable, Ativo = 1, item1), item1), "Value",SortOrder.Ascending));
ClearCollect(colDefaultItem2Ativos, SortByColumns(Distinct(Filter(yourTable, Ativo = 1, item2), item2), "Value",SortOrder.Ascending));
ClearCollect(colDefaultItem3Ativos, SortByColumns(Distinct(Filter(yourTable, Ativo = 1, item3), item3), "Value" ,SortOrder.Ascending));
ClearCollect(colDefaultItem4Ativos, SortByColumns(Distinct(Filter(yourTable, Ativo = 1, item4), item4),"Value",SortOrder.Ascending));
2 - Now for the comboboxes:
2.1 - For the first combobox:
OnChange: UpdateContext({varPrograma: insertComboPrograma.Selected.Value});
And with that variable, i'll fetch only the remaining items that has item1 as well, sort of a select item1, item2, item3, item 4 from table where item1 = microsoft. With that a collection named dataBasedOnFilter is created
OnChange: If(IsEmpty(dataBasedOnFilter),
ClearCollect(
dataBasedOnFilter,
Filter(yourTable,
item1 = varItem1 &&
Ativo = 1,
item1 ,item1 , item3, item4
)
)
);
then, using the collection created on the above step, i've placed the following code on "Items" property, which basically verifies if theres any value inside my collection, created from the OnChange, if no, it shows the collection created on "OnStart", if yes, it simply fetch the values using distinct, to exclude any values repetition
Items: If( IsEmpty(dataBasedOnFilter),
colDefaultItem1Ativos,
Distinct(dataBasedOnFilter, item1)
)
2.2 - Follow the exact same logic for the remaining combos, create a variable using update context, compare the value selected within that variable and fetch all columns that you need, because if you don't you'll be stuck on a loop, that happened to me hahahaha. One thing that this approach also helps, is if there's one value for each selection, the app will fill it by itself without user interacting much.
Hope this helps, any questions, just let me know and i'll try to help
Thank you for the code, I think my issue is a bit more complex because I have a large dataset in SharePoint which I cannot use because of delegation issues. I am trying to have each of my 7 independant comboboxes filter off each other and also filter the gallery. Nothing I have tried has worked I an so stuck on this issue. I tried the collection but it was not filtering correctly. Thank you anyway.
