Change DataSource dinamically on datatable

Good day everyone. Any kind of support is appreciated

In order to apply security at row level I've created several lists (more than 40), all with the same structure. Different user must see different records but the funcionality and the forms are the same. LIST1, LIST2, etc are the different lists. I use a global variable “TableUnit" to store the active datasource. This variable can’t be a string then I create a dropbox  with this OnSelect event code:

Then I've assigned the variable TableUnit to the DataTable Item field

The datatable refresh correctly each time I select a different value in the combo.

Then I added a link in the first column to open another screen with a detail Form

Navigate(DetailScreen;ScreenTransition.UnCover;{ ID: DataTable.Selected }  )

The form DataSource field is TableUnit. The information is shown correctly in the form. There is a button to close & save the form  and to go back to the screen table

SubmitForm(FormDetail);;Back()

The changes are saved in the list correctly.

The problem is when the DataTable show again, the changes are not shown. I put refresh(DataUnit) everywhere (OnVisible of the tablescreen, detail form save button, etc, but nothings  works. The only why to see the changes in the datatable is change twice the dropbox. Even I created a refresh button to change the datatable twice but didn’t work (set TableBack, TableUnit), set(TableUnit,TableBack). Only works when you create two button and click one after the other. Internal powerapp code must be  called when the onselect event is execute.

Any experience with something like that?

@MiguelGon - typically we can "force" a Gallery refresh by associating the Gallery default property to a variable and then changing that variable (e.g. setting it to true and then immediately setting it to false).

Because your data source is dynamic, I would create another list with the same schema as your other lists. You will not use this list for anything other than to bind it to the TableUnit variable on a temporary basis.

For example, after you run the SubmitForm function, set TableUnit variable to that list, and then on the OnVisible property of your screen, run a Select function on that dropdown. This will trigger the OnSelect event you have in that dropdown control and will force a change to the Gallery control.

On the Save Button control:

SubmitForm(FormDetail);
Set(TableUnit;TempList);
Back()

On the OnVisible property of the other screen:

Select('Your Dropdown')

My guess is that you need to refresh the relevant data source and not TableUnit.

Something like:

Switch(
DropdownUnit.SelectedText.Value;
"ENT1";
Refresh(LIST1);
"ENT2";
Refresh(LIST2)));;

Hi Amik, it's not a gallery it's a datatable and a form but i think it is the same behaviour.  I did something very similar to your idea. I create a hide label with the dropbox function and I call it from the dropbox and from the on the OnVisible property of the screen, and it works. No need to create a dummy list. Thank you very much.

PowerApps could rename fields of TableUNit var  to field_1, field_2. etc, I don't know why. You need to rename them in the datatable and the form to work correctly. To duplicate lists, export them as CSV with format and import with new name! If not TableUnit will have missing fields.
