Change text label count based on "Area" button Selection. Buttons also filter gallery.

I have 3 different text Labels on the dashboard screen. One provides the count of total tickets, one provides the count of Open tickets, and the other provides the count of Closed tickets. These currently count all rows in a list. However, I need it to change when different “Area” buttons are selected. What function would I use to have the count change based on which “Area” button is selected filtering the count by the area chosen. My current functions are below. The buttons used also filter the gallery also and their current function is below).

All tickets text label= CountRows('Production Stoppage - DRAFT 1')

Open Tickets text label= CountRows(Filter('Production Stoppage - DRAFT 1',Status.Value="Open"))

Closed Tickets text label= CountRows(Filter('Production Stoppage - DRAFT 1',Status.Value="Closed"))

Buttons to filter gallery, that also need to change text label counts when selected.

Vertical Button: Set(varSelectedArea, "Vertical")

Modified Button: Set(varSelectedArea, "Modified")

Quick Ship Button: Set(varSelectedArea, "Quick Ship")

	Modified,

	CountRows('Production Stoppage - DRAFT 1')

Here is an example for you, recreate it in your app and you can learn how it works fundamentally and then use it in this situation, and in future situations anytime you need similar functionality

Place 3 buttons on the screen, we will name them buttonA buttonB & buttonC

Give each button the onselect of

UpdateContext({btnChoice:If(btnChoice=Self,Blank(),Self)})

now place a text label and make its value

Switch(btnChoice, buttonA, "Button A Chosen", buttonB, "Button B Chosen", buttonC, "Button C Chosen", "No Button Chosen")

each time you press a button it will change what goes in your label, and pressing a button again will unselect that buttons changes etc. you can use this method to solve your issue

Current function for button shows below.

Set(varSelectedArea, "Vertical");UpdateContext({Button1_8:If(Button1_8=Self,Blank(),Self)})

Unable to get text label function you recommended to work.

change update context to

UpdateContext({btnChoice:If(btnChoice=Self,Blank(),Self)})

needs to match that way.

after that in your switch you reference the button names. in the updatecontext you must reference self

Functions I now have are shown below. Text label does not show value. Also, the function you provided has now disabled my gallery to filter by the button.

Button...   UpdateContext({Button1_8:If(Button1_8=Self,Blank(),Self)})

Text label...    Switch(btnChoice, Button1_8, "Button1_8 Chosen", Button1_9, "Button1_9 Chosen", Button1_11, "Button1_11 Chosen", "No Button Chosen")

My buttons are Button1_8, Button1_9, and Button1_11

Did you try, as i suggested, adding 3 new buttons and a new label set up exactly as i showed them so you could see first hand and learn what was happening in the formulas before applying them to your own controls?

On my cell because had to leave the office but first thing i see is you chabged the context from

UpdateContext({btnChoice:If(btnChoice=Self,Blank(),Self)})

To Button1_9

You dont need to type actual name of the button anywhere in the update context.

Set up my example seperately first and you will see how it is working though, easiest way to get the hang of it

I added 3 new buttons as you mentioned buttonA, buttonB & buttonC used the exact function on the button

UpdateContext({btnChoice:If(btnChoice=Self,Blank(),Self)})

and used the exact function into the text label

Switch(btnChoice, buttonA, "Button A Chosen", buttonB, "Button B Chosen", buttonC, "Button C Chosen", "No Button Chosen")

 Still does not work....

Can you send screenshots of these 3 buttons and that label on your side? Something must be set incorrect (the code for them too)
