Check box not updating Microsoft list

Hello,

New to Power Apps, so please bear with me.

I have a Microsoft / Sharepoint list for data.

My formula for the checkbox is not working correctly.

Do you have an idea on what I need to do to fix this?

The Checkbox is inside a gallery.

Currently:

OnCheck = Patch('ThankYouCardList', ThisItem, {Card_Completed:If(Self.Value,"Yes","No")})

Default = ThisItem.ckbox_Yes_No_CardCompleted

OnSelect = Select(Parent)

OnUnCheck = false

Text = If(Self.Value,"Card Completed","Check box when Card is completed")

To recap from previous question.

This is data is in Microsoft List

The Checkbox will not update the data in the list.

Now when the app is run by the next person or reopened by the same person, the Checkbox should be blank( if new person using app) also if a returning person using the proper ID can look at their data showing that the checkbox's that were checked previously are still checked. 

Now one ID may have multiple thank you cards to create, but do not have to be completed all at once.  That is why I would like the option to indicate completed check marks.

It seems the ckbox_Yes_No_CardCompleted is a Y/N column within the list, is it? 

If it is, please modify to be the following:

Default = ThisItem.ckbox_Yes_No_CardCompleted

OnCheck  

Patch('ThankYouCardList', ThisItem, {Card_Completed:true})

OnSelect = Select(Parent)

OnUnCheck

Patch('ThankYouCardList', ThisItem, {Card_Completed:false})

Sorry to say changing the OnCheck and OnUncheck did not work.

Is the field your patching to a text field?  Or a Boolean true false?

If it is a text field you could try changing the syntax a bit.  Please use the name of the field from your data source in the below example...

Patch ('Thank you card list',

"Field Name from your source you are patching": If('card completed'.Value=true,"true",
'card completed'.Value=false,"false") )

I had to change a few labels and objects in the data and power apps screens so I can share this information, due to confidentiality.

That did not seem to work either.

I have attached my sample files for a more in depth look at what I'm trying to accomplish.

Hi,  

It looks like your data source is an excel table correct?  There are rules to using Excel as a data source.  What you shared has calculated drop down selection options.  If your back end source has this, I suspect it might be interfering.  I have not used Excel as a data source myself. I am more familiar with SQL, and SharePoint data sources.  I do know the Excel doc has to be stored on One Drive, and you can't have formulas in any of the fields your patching.  This post has some pretty good rules to follow when using Excel as a data source.  Can you check through these and see if complying with them helps?  https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Excel-table-update-with-patch-function/td-p/...

The field that I am patching is just a choice field Yes or No.  So no calculations done in the Microsoft List.

Our Sharepoint is set to be internal only so sharing the url is not an option at this point.  That is why I sent the data as an excel table.

So I made a mock up to see how best to help you.  On the checkbox itself I set a variable.  

Set the "OnCheck" property to Set(varCompleted, "Yes")

Set the  "OnUncheck" property to Set(varCompleted, "No")

Set the "Default" property to If(ThisItem.Completed.Value = "Yes", true, false)

Then to patch I used this on the > icon:

// the datasource where you see "testing" change to your datasource,
//Change the field name out with your field name where the "Completed" is. But do not change out varCompleted.

Patch(testing,
LookUp(testing, ID = ThisItem.ID),
{Completed: {Value:varCompleted}
}
);
//to clear the variable for the next use
Set(varCompleted, "");

//to refresh your gallery after patching to show the changes
Refresh(testing);

I feel this is closer than I've been to get this running.

It still is not updating to the Microsoft List.

I did put in what you recommended.

As you can see there's still some heartburn with this code.

When I hover over the "=" this is comes up

When I hover over the "ThisItem.xxxxx_ID

As you can see in the first screen capture, I am working in Sharepoint and my data source is "ThankYouCardList-xxxx-xxxx"

When I select or click on the button, it does not update or change the record.

The Highlighted in grey are the one's I'm using to check if the "Completed" field gets changed.
