Check in and Check out function

Hello,

I am developing an app that will have two buttons - Check In and Check Out. The data is connected with my sharepoint list called EmployeeOffice.

I used the following formulas:

Check in button:

Set(CurrentCheckedInRecord; Patch(EmployeeOffice; Defaults(EmployeeOffice);{Title:"Office";StaffFullName:User().FullName;StaffEmail:User().Email;CheckIn:Now()}));; Navigate(CheckIn;ScreenTransition.Fade)

Check Out button:

Refresh(EmployeeOffice);; If(!IsBlank(CurrentCheckedInRecord); Patch(EmployeeOffice;CurrentCheckedInRecord;{CheckOut:Now()}));; Navigate(CheckOut;ScreenTransition.Fade)

I would like to add the following functionalities:

- you cannot check in again if you didnt check out (the message that you are already checked in should appear)

- you cannot check out if you didnt check in (the message that your have not checked in should appear)

I use FullName of my employees and Email address. Employee will check in and out everyday.

Yes you can implement some functionality that resets the control where you select the employee. 

First, Let's implement a variable to reset the control. We can not directly reset the control with the reset function, since the control is inside a form control. 

We can set the variable on the OnSelect property on your check- in check out button on screen 2. It's the two set functions in the code below:

You'll then use the gblReset variable on the reset property of your dropdown control in your form control where you select the employee.

That should reset the dropdown control every time you press the check in / check out button.

Perfect! Now the fields are resetting after an employee checks in. Thank you!!

The last issue is getting the app to recognize what status the employee is in (checked in or checked out) so that at the end of the day the correct status (check in or check out) is the only option that will appear once they select their name?

As of right now when Employee A "checks in"... Employee B checks in... If I go back and select Employee A the button still says "check in".....   Doesn't give me the "check out" option.

I think what you need is to somehow update the registration status every time an employee is selected. 
The dropdown control where you select the employee has an OnChange property. 
On that property implement the registration status logic that retrieves the registration status from SharePoint.

You might want to implement some loading screen/pop up logic, because it might take a little while before it has retrieved the value from sharepoint. And you don't want to let the user continue in the app with blank values or the wrong values.

Quick question. Have you successfully used the PenInput feature that will save a signature to a sharepoint list as a attachment?

I created an app for Student Early Dismissal and parents/guardians need to sign out the student. I'd like to get a viewable signature to show up in the attachment column so that it's viewable when you open the link.
