Thank you for taking the time to read my question.
I have a Gallery that has pictures with a checkbox beside them and a hidden field that has a code that is associated to the picture.
The values in the Gallery are from a SharePoint list and I want to show all 6 values every time so that users can select which ones they want by checking the checkbox.
I can return the values that have been checked.
If I have a space separated list of the codes associated to the pictures, how do I check the check boxes in my Gallery.
I also have a ListBox. It's items come from another SharePoint list. I can return all the selected values from the ListBox but how do I select values in the list box based on a space separated list of values
Example:
ID | ProductCode | Signs | H-Number |
1 | 123456 | GHS07 GHS08 | 302_00 314_00 |
2 | 987654 | GHS09 | 317_00 |
If the user Searches for ProductCode 123456 then I want to check the Gallery items equal to GHS07 and GHS08, and I want to select the rows in the ListBox equal to 302_00 and 341_00.
General info: A user can look up a ProductCode. If found I want to return the record and update the controls on my Screen to the values of the existing record. I was thinking the best way to do this is to filter for the record based on ID (I can do that part) and put the results into a Collection. Then I can make my controls equal to the values in the collection. I just can't find a post on how to add the results of a Filter to a Collection
Thanks!

Hi @iwonder ,
Yes - that is the syntax
ThisItem.PictogramName in Split(YourStringName," ")
This will return true or false depending on where the item is in the string. If this is simply checking a box, you can put this code directly in the Default of the control as per below

Hi Warren,
I finally have it working!
Solution:
1. When I click the Magnifying glass to LookUp my Product Code, if found I Split the values into a Collection.
1a. be careful here, you have to put the actual values into the Collection, don't put a table into the Collection. There will be no errors when running the app, but it won't work because the table can't be referenced (at least not the way I was doing things)
2. I left the Gallery Items to be my SharePoint List
3. I changed my Check Box to be ThisItem.Title (Title is the sign name column GHS08 and so on) instead of ThisItem.PictogramNames
4. I set the Default to be: If(IsBlank(recID),false,ThisItem.Title in collExistingSigns). This way nothing is checked if the LookUp on the Magnifying glass OnSelect doesn't find anything
4a. recID is Set when doing the OnSelect of the Magnifying glass
4b. Set(recID,Blank());Set(recID,LookUp('[dbo].[MaxProdCode]',ProductCode = SearchProductCode.Text,MaxID))
Thank you very much Warren for all your help and sticking with me as I learn PowerApps. I appreciate it.

I marked my reply here as the solution in hopes that the full explanation will help someone else as it was a number of things that needed to be changed.
It's very important to note that Warren was the key to getting me here! I added a thumbs up to the one post that sent me in the right direction.
Hi @iwonder ,
I think this is the bit you need - this will return all fields in the gallery to a collection on the records that the checkbox has been selected.
ClearCollect(
colYourCollection,
Filter(
YourGalleryName.AllItems,
YourCheckboxName.Value = true
)
)

Hi Warren,
If I'm reading your reply correctly, you're returning the items in the Gallery that the user selected. What I want to do is check items in the Gallery based on an existing record in the database.
This is how I'm getting all the checked items in my gallery (for now I'm just putting the checked items into a Notify):
Signs: " & Right(Concat(cSigns," " & PicName),Len(Concat(cSigns," " & PicName))-1)
Am I reading your reply correctly?
Thanks!
Hi @iwonder ,
No - I was collecting the checked items - are you saying you want them checked? What exactly is the criteria for checking them?
Hi Warren,
Sorry for my late reply. I was pulled into another project.
I do want them checked.
The gallery gets it's values from a SharePoint list. I want to check the boxes based on a field in a record returned from a SQL database.
The results would look like this (space delimited)
"GHS07 GHS08 GHS09"
I need to split the string and then check each related item in the Gallery. Let's say for argument sake, the first three items in the Gallery relate to the above string.
I also need to select items in a ListBox. The values are all stored in a field, separated by a space just like the Gallery example.
Thanks!
@iwonder ,
You can use the Split() function to turn the string into a list, then the In Operator to look for the equivalent value in the matching gallery field.

Hi Warren,
I'm struggling on how to use the IN() Operator. Where do I put that? The Items of the Gallery is already set to my SharePoint list.
Thanks again for your replies and all your help. I really appreciate it.
Edit:
I always want to show all items from the SharePoint list, but just want to check and uncheck as needed (per the Split() list)
The Text for my checkbox in the Gallery is: ThisItem.PictogramName
Do I change it to ThisItem.PictogramName IN(Split(string," ") ?
Hi @iwonder ,
Yes - that is the syntax
ThisItem.PictogramName in Split(YourStringName," ")
This will return true or false depending on where the item is in the string. If this is simply checking a box, you can put this code directly in the Default of the control as per below
