Checkbox Value Not Displaying Correctly and Data Not Saving in Power Apps Gallery

I am encountering a perplexing issue with checkboxes in my Power Apps application that I'm hoping to get some assistance with. I've created a form in Power Apps that allows users to submit data to a SharePoint list. In this form, I have two checkboxes related to a field named "Active Contract," which is a Yes/No column in the SharePoint list.

Here's the issue I'm facing:

  1. Checkbox Behavior During Submission:

    • Within the form, I have two checkboxes: "Active Contract" and "Not Active Contract."
    • When submitting a new item, if I check the "Active Contract" checkbox, I've verified that the value is being correctly set to "Yes" for the "Active Contract" column in the SharePoint list.
    • However, I've also noticed that the checkbox values are not being saved in SharePoint at all, regardless of whether I check them or not.
  2. Issue in Gallery View:

    • Following submission, I navigate to a gallery that displays items from the SharePoint list.
    • Within the gallery, I've included a checkbox to show the value of the "Active Contract" column for each item.
    • The problem arises here: the checkboxes in the gallery do not accurately display the value of the "Active Contract" column for each item. They don't appear checked even when the column value is "Yes."

What I've Checked and Tried:

  • I've thoroughly verified that the "Active Contract" column in the SharePoint list is indeed being updated with the checkbox value during form submission.
  • The gallery's "Items" property is retrieving and displaying data from the SharePoint list.
  • I've set the Default property of the checkboxes in the form to "ThisItem.'Active Contract'."
  • I've ensured that there are no typographical errors in the field name, and it matches the corresponding SharePoint column.

Request for Help: I am reaching out for assistance in understanding why the checkboxes within the gallery are not accurately reflecting the "Active Contract" column values. Additionally, it's concerning that the checkbox values are not being saved in SharePoint, which seems to indicate a deeper issue. If anyone has faced similar challenges or can offer insights into what might be causing this behavior, I would be deeply grateful for your guidance. Any suggestions, steps for troubleshooting, or potential solutions would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance!

@Anonymous ,

OK - mystery solved. This Data Card is linked to the Text Box (not the check boxes), so SharePoint has no "instructions" to update the field. You need to either add a separate Data Card for the 'Active Contract' field and put a Checkbox in there, however how are you controlling someone checking both boxes or neither (so you would not know the desired value) and the Default of the left one should be !ThisItem.'Active Contract' and the right one !ThisItem.'Active Contract' .

If you had one check box (the right one), you could do this

UpdateContext({varActive: YourCheckBoxName.Value});
SubmitForm(FormName)

then OnSuccess of the Form

Patch(
   SPListName,
   {ID: Self.LastSubmit.ID},
   {'Active Contract': varActive}
);
UpdateContext({varActive: false})

Hi @Anonymous ,

How exactly are you writing these values back to your yes/no column and what are their Default values ?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Well simply put I have created a column for each checkbox I have using the same name (So for Active Contract checkbox, I have created a Yes/No Column in Sharepoint named Active Contract with a default Value of No. In my Powerapps I have changed the Default Property of my CheckBox to Thistem.'Active Contract'. For every Checkbox I have done the same where the default value of the column is no and the default property of the Checkboxes is Thisitem.'The field concerning it'

@Anonymous ,

If they are displaying the correct content, then the Default is correct, which leads to my other question, to be more specific, if you are using SubmitForm, what is the Update of the Data Card ?

This is the Update property of the card that is generally holding my Checkbox. The checkbox was inserted inside the datacard to avoid it moving when the user scrolls. I am indeed using a simple Submitform(Formname) on my submit button
