Checkbox in gallery not resetting properly

I am developing a checklist-based assessment with powerapps. Currently, I am using a Gallery to show the questions and checkboxes instead of a form, because the questions are subject to changes in the future so a Gallery would show the edited questions more easily. Which also means I have set global variables to reset the checkboxes.

By default, the checkboxes are to be set to as Checked, so for my "Start New Asssessment" button the Onselect is Set(ResetCheckbox1,true) and for the checkboxes the Default is ResetCheckbox1 . However, the issue is that after testing one trial run, the Checkbox1 controls do not reset and remain unchecked even after selecting the "Start New Asssessment" button. BUT strange enough, when i manually re-type 'ResetCheckbox1' into the Default property of the checkboxes, the checkboxes immediately go back to being checked. 

This is a strange issue, can anyone explain why despite setting a global variable as true, the coresponding checkboxes do not reset to be true UNLESS i re-type out the global variable in the checkboxes' Default property.

Can you set the "reset" property of the checkbox to true and try again.

You can call Reset(CheckBoxName), to reset the checkbox

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I think there is something issue with the Set formula you used in your fomrula.

I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:

Set the OnSelect property of the "Start New Asssessment" button to following:

Set(ResetCheckbox1, false); /* <-- Add formula here */
Set(ResetCheckbox1, true)

Set the Default property of the Checkbox1 in your Gallery to following:

ResetCheckbox1

Please take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.

This solution is working. It will work for similar issues related to checkbox in Gallery. It seems that Power Apps has this bug and this is a good work around for the bug.

Actually, there is no need for workaround I think. In order to make "Reset" working properly, you need first to define "Default" property. 

Once the specific value is defined in "Default" you can set up "Reset" as true and it should works. 
It works in my case
