Checking if a name entered either fully or partially is in sharepoint list

Hi All,

I have an issue which is stalling my progress. I have the need that when a person either puts their full or partial name in a TextInput box, I can get the box to change colour. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

I have tried the below but it will only work on an exact match:

If(
!IsBlank(LookUp('Prohibited Site Entry',Proper(TextInput1.Text) in Title )),"Is Match", "No Match") and this one

If(!IsEmpty(Filter('Prohibited Site Entry',Proper( TextInput1.Text) in Title)), "Is Match", "No Match")

Try this out if it works.

I ran this one here to test

If(
   !IsBlank(
      LookUp(
         'Prohibited Site Entry',
         TextInput1.Text in Title 
      )
   ),
   "Is Match", 
   "No Match"
)

and (as expected) it worked perfectly on any part of the field. What results are you getting ?
Please also note that the in filter is not case sensitive, so you do not need the Proper function.

Thanks for the quick response, if I put my name in sharepoint as I Mawdsley and then in the power app enter it the same way I get a match if I enter my name in Power App as Ian Mawdsley it returns no match

It will not work with a space in the search text - Mawdsley should work. Also I Maudsley is not found anywhere (contiguously) in the string Ian Maudsley.

Hi Warren,

Any ideas on how to achieve the requirement, as if a person who has been removed from 1 site can just pitch up at another the next day and sign in either using full name or partial full name, any help would be appreciated.

Not with two separate parts of the name unfortunately. Search or in can only address one contiguous part.

Hi @IanMawdsley ,

Not really with a single initial - it will also pick up any surname with that letter in it (which is why I did not go down that track). Split() can work if you have full given and surnames.
