Choice columns not setting selected value in SharePoint list

Hello,

I have a custom PowerApps form with a number of different choice fields. A few of the choice fields are working as intended and when the user saves the form the fields are updated with the value that was selected. There are two single choice column fields, Status and Issue Category, that put the default value in the column in the SharePoint list no matter what was selected in the form. All of the fields are set up exactly the same and have the same DataCardValueXX.Selected being used for Update properties. I've tried using a patch function on Update but that doesn't seem to work either. The below pictures are 1)an example of the column layout in SharePoint that IS working in the form 2)an example of the column layout that ISN'T working, both using the aforementioned Update properties. Any insight into what I am missing here would be greatly appreciated!

I've deleted them and re-entered them. Before they were drop downs even though they were radio buttons in the list so I added radio buttons to the cards and deleted the existing drop down as described here.  It's still saving the same value for Issue Category and Status no matter what I select in the form😣

Could you please share a bit more about the formula you typed within the Items property of the Status ComboBox and Issue Category ComboBox within your Edit form (SharePointForm1)?

Further, could you please show more details about the formula you specified within the DefaultSelectedItems property of the Status ComboBox and Issue Category ComboBox?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I suppose that you have made some changes within the Items property of the Status ComboBox and Issue Category ComboBox within your Edit form, is it true?

If you want to set a default value within the Status ComboBox or Issue Category ComboBox within your Edit form, please consider set the DefaultSelectedItems property of the Status ComboBox or Issue Category ComboBox to following:

{
   DisplayColumn: "Type Specific Value Here"
}

Note: The DisplayColumn represents the display column value you used within your Status ComboBox or Issue Category ComboBox.

Set the Update property of the Status field data card or Issue Category field data card to following:

For Status field data card:

{
  Value: StatusComboBox.Selected.DisplayColumn
}

For Issue Category field data card:

{
  Value: IssueCategoryComboBox.Selected.DisplayColumn
}

Note: The DisplayColumn represents the display column value you used within your Status ComboBox or Issue Category ComboBox.

Please consider take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.

@v-xida-msft Thank you for responding! I went back to a previous version of the form, so I have drop downs again rather than the radio boxes.

My Items formula for Issue Category is: 

Sort(Choices([@'My List'].Issue_x0020_Category),Value)

My Items formula for Status is:

Choices([@'My List'].Status)

When I try to make the update property as stated I get this error. It goes away if I use .Value but I tried entering a new item and it still entered the wrong item, which is the same one it enters every time. Thank you for your help!

Note: The DisplayColumn represents the display column value you used within your Status ComboBox or Issue Category ComboBox.

Is this the name of the column in SharePoint? Am I understanding this correctly?

@v-xida-msft When I set the Update property like below and select an item in the drop down of the form it shows the correct value.

I figured it out. There is a flow updating the item and setting those values. 🤐 I'm sorry, thank you for your help.

Hi @CarlHRVA ,

Please consider remove the default value for the Status Choice field and Issue Category Choice field in your SP List itself.

Then edit your custom form app again, set the Update property of the Status field data card to following:

{
  Value: StatusComboBox.Selected.Value
}

set the Update property of the Issue Category field data card to following:

{
  Value: IssueCategoryComboBox.Selected.Value
}

Note: I assume that you do not change the data type of the Status column and Issue Category column in your SP List

If the issue still exists, please consider remove the Status field and Issue Category field from your Edit form, then re-enable them again within your Edit form, check if the issue is solved.

Based on the screenshot that you mentioned, please set the DefaultSelectedItems property of the Status ComboBox to following:

{
  Value: "Type Spcific value here"
}

same logic as your Issue Category ComboBox.
