Collections no longer populated on App OnStart

Hi all!

I've built an app which has been finished for quite some time. I've never had this issue before, however when importing the app again after a version update, I'm facing an issue with that my collections that are to be executed when the app starts (App OnStart property) no longer populates. However, if I in edit mode refresh one of my datasources (any of them) and then run the OnStart property again, the collections are populated.... I don't understand. I've also tried to remove all datasources and add them again without any success...

Anyone having an idea what this can be? Here is my formula:

ClearCollect(COLLECTION1,{Value: "Select Value"},Filter(ForAll(ForAll(Distinct('TABLE1','Class number'), {Result: ThisRecord.Value}),First(Filter('TABLE3','Class number'=Result))),!IsBlank('FIELD1)')));
ClearCollect(COLLECTION2,{Value: "Select Value"},Filter(ForAll(ForAll(Distinct('TABLE2','Class number'), {Result: ThisRecord.Value}),First(Filter('TABLE3)','Class number'=Result))),!IsBlank('FIELD1)')))

However, the formula seems correct as the collectionsa actually populates when manually refreshing a datasource and then running the onstart porperty again...

Thankful for any help!

Hi @AndLun ,

I am not going into your formula structure here as that would be difficult without understanding your data, however I have a suspicion that this latest release (see point 4 of Fixes and Improvements (I fail to see how this is either) may be part of the issue. Try .Value instead of .Result and see if that fixes it. I have parsed your code below for easier reference

ClearCollect(
   COLLECTION1,
   {Value: "Select Value"},
   Filter(
      ForAll(
         ForAll(
            Distinct(
               'TABLE1',
               'Class number'
            ),
            {Result: ThisRecord.Value}
         ),
         First(
            Filter(
               'TABLE3',
               'Class number' = Result
            )
         )
      ),
      !IsBlank('FIELD1)')
   )
);
ClearCollect(
   COLLECTION2,
   {Value: "Select Value"},
   Filter(
      ForAll(
         ForAll(
            Distinct(
               'TABLE2',
               'Class number'
            ),
            {Result: ThisRecord.Value}
         ),
         First(
            Filter(
               'TABLE3)',
               'Class number'=Result
            )
         )
      ),
      !IsBlank('FIELD1)')
   )
)

Hello @AndLun

How about adding a refresh on the OnStart property? right before it collects the data:

Refresh('TABLE1');
Refresh('TABLE2');
Refresh('TABLE3');
ClearCollect(COLLECTION1,{Value: "Select Value"},Filter(ForAll(ForAll(Distinct('TABLE1','Class number'), {Result: ThisRecord.Value}),First(Filter('TABLE3','Class number'=Result))),!IsBlank('FIELD1)')));
ClearCollect(COLLECTION2,{Value: "Select Value"},Filter(ForAll(ForAll(Distinct('TABLE2','Class number'), {Result: ThisRecord.Value}),First(Filter('TABLE3)','Class number'=Result))),!IsBlank('FIELD1)'))))

Hi Warren!

Thank you for helping me out. I'm a bit unsure where I should use the .Value you are mentioning, As I see it I do it already on the places where it should be, or can you point where you mean out?

Hi @AndLun ,

I was referring to the .Result items - do they now work with .Value instead (please read the point referred to in the release). I am not sure on this (I do not think anyone is presently).

Sorry for being a bit slow, but not the best at "coding".. But I tried to redo my formula to below.

So I tried to replace the .Result stuff with .Value, not sure I did it as you meant it though.
Also, it seems my code on this has changed after the update, I don't remember putting the [{Result:ThisRecord.Value}) code in myself from start.

CollectionEmpty.jpg

Also, attached an image. There is a new column in the collections called "Value". Right now its returning my freetext but nothing from the actual tables i try to collect from.

ClearCollect(collectionNewClass,{Value:""},Filter(ForAll(ForAll(Distinct('TABLE1','Class number'),{Result:ThisRecord.Value}),First(Filter('TABLE2','Class number'=Result))),!IsBlank('FIELD1')')));ClearCollect(collectionUsedClass,{Value:""},Filter(ForAll(ForAll(Distinct('TABLE1','Class number'),{Result:ThisRecord.Value}),First(Filter('TABLE3','Class number'=Result))),!IsBlank('FIELD1')')))

Tried this already, doesn't work... Just works if i do it manually on the datasource in edit mode in the app and then run onstart property again.....

Hi @AndLun ,

You need to get rid of all Result references and replace them with Value to test this - be sure to keep a copy of your old code.

Hi again,

I think I did that and the formula seems to executes correctly (no matter if i had result or value). However, what I noticed is that I tried to remove the formula from the OnStart property and added into a button instead. When I wait for enough amount of time (like 30 seconds) to be sure that datasources are fully loaded. Then i press the button where the clearcollect formula now resides (onselect) and the collections populate correctly.

If I only wait like 5-seconds and then press the button to populate the collections - it doesn't work. So it seems (i think) that the datasources does not fully load before my above formula executes when having it on the OnStart property... Any ideas how to come around this?

Hi @AndLun ,

To be honest, there is no real explanation except maybe the complexity of the query, however one thing you could try would be to start a timer OnVisible of your landing screen and run the code from that - the only issue there is if the user navigates off it under that time.
