Combo Box - Search stopped working

Hi 

I am using PowerApps with SharePoint Online Lists.

Up to about a week ago all worked well.  I would select the chevron on my combo box.  I could start entering the string I was looking for and the number of values being displayed would reduce, the more characters I typed in.  I have an Index on the column in the list I am searching for which is of type "Single Line of text".

About a week ago, the number of items in the list went over 500 items.  Also the version of PowerApps went from version 3.18081.19 -> 3.18.81.22.

Since about a week ago, when I start entering the string to search for the number of values being displayed does not reduce.

I have tried using a collection rather than straight to the SharePoint list [ ClearCollect(mycollection,myList); ] and using myCollection as the Items property of the combobox, so any 500 item limit should not come into play.

Anybody any ideas ?

Hi @NigelP,

First of all, please check on the collection, see if all the items are collected. 

Secondly, please check on the combo box, make sure that:

1. ComboBox1.Items=CollectionName.ColumnName

2. Primary text and SeachField are selected to the column. 

3. Make sure that Allow searching is on.

Hi! I checked all of those things. But when I change Allow search to on it switches to off by itself a couple of seconds later.
The same happens if I change the "IsSearchable" property in the function bar.
Any idea what might be?

I'm having the same issue with the IsSearchable property (same property as the "Allow searching" toggle) changing my data source on the combobox from a SQL view to a SQL indexed table. I had no issues with the SQL view and have been searching for a while since I ran into a similar issue about a year ago where the property/toggle would immediately revert when you change it to "true" but it wasn't the same situation and (of course) I can't recall what fixed it then. In my current case the data sources have the exact same data but it seems there's something about the specific SQL tables I'm trying to use now. I have other SQL tables used in field lookups that work fine. Another thing in my case is it doesn't appear to return more than 500 results when there are a few thousand in the table, where if I scroll with the SQL views it loads more when you get to the end of the first 500.

Maybe it has something to do with indexing and more than 500 results... I'll see if I can't figure it out with our SQL guys and post back.

In case it helps someone else, in my case it was because the datasource for the indexed SQL table was numeric and not character (varchar in SQL terms) data. While I'm not sure that the issue is that search isn't supported for numeric SQL tables from Power Apps or it's related to the SQL side I can say that when we created a new table that was character based and connected to it the search property could be set to true.

I'm using SP list but I think it's the same issue because my field is also numeric. Will accept the answer if that is the reason behind it

I'd say that's it with looking at the Combo box control MS doc:

Also, with now searching on this issue using "number" or "numeric" in the search terms I'm seeing more threads indicating numeric formats aren't supported for search. Here's another discussion showing the column was not available to use until it was converted to a character format. 

I don't know if the answer is as simple as that note in the MS doc as I wasn't able to use the Text function on either the Items property or the SearchFields property with a numeric SQL data source, but maybe it will work on the SP data source. If not you could duplicate your SP column to a single line text column (copy over all the values using quick edit mode) and if you do need number formats in other places you can use the Value function on that within the Power App.
