Combo box filtering

Hi

 

I have 2 combo boxs, the first combo box has the formula:

 

Sort(Distinct(Exams,Course),Value ,SortOrder.Ascending)

 

The 2nd Combo box has the formula:

 

Sort(Distinct(Filter(Exams,Course = ComboBox3.Selected.Value),Title),Value,SortOrder.Ascending)

 

This is working, as it filters the results based on what has been selected in combo box1.  However, There is an entry called 'Mop Ups' that i would like to be displayed in the 2nd combo box which is to be displayed regardless of what is selected in the first combo box.

 

Can this be done?

 

Any help will be appreciated

maybe u can try this:

ClearCollect(
    TempCollection,
    Filter(Exams, Course = ComboBox1.Selected.Value),
    {Title: "Mop Ups", Course: ComboBox1.Selected.Value}
)

PLease be aware that you needto rename the Combobox1 in the code.

and this for items in combobox2:

Sort(
    Distinct(TempCollection, Title),
    Result,
    Ascending
)

@mmbr1606 I amended your formula a little on the OnChange property:

 

ClearCollect(
    TempCollection,
    Filter(
        Exams,
        Course = ComboBox3.Selected.Value
    ),
    {
        Title: "Mop Ups",
        Course: ComboBox3.Selected.Value
    },
    {
        Title: ComboBox3.Selected.Value,
        Course: ComboBox3.Selected.Value
    }
)

And this seems to be working.  Although it does add the Course to the 'Title' field.  That will be because i have Title = ComboBox3.Selected.Value

 

I think i can live with that unless you would know what i could put in it's place?

@neill_long - you mean if nothing is selected in the first combo box, then the default value in the 2nd combo box should be "Mop Ups" ?

If nothing is selected then Mop Ups does display, but I want it to also display when an option is selected. 

 

I know i could add a record in the SP List with the course and have mop ups against each course, but was wondering if there was an easier way to only have the one record for mop ups, not have the course field completed but this record would always display regardless if combo box 1 is empty or something has been selected

@mmbr1606 I have tried your formula but i am getting errors. saying Union is an unknown or unsupported function and also Name is not valide 'Value' is not recognised.

 

Any ideas what i have done wrong?

try this in the onchange of combo box

ClearCollect(

 and this in the items property of combobox2:

    Result,
    Ascending
)

 

@mmbr1606 I think we are almost there.  when option is selected it now shows mop ups, but i would also like it to display all the other records that match what has been selected in combo box 1?

what else should be shown or displayed, can u provide screenshots or explanation so i can understand better

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
