Combobox Choice, Default selected item Error, "Icompatible types for comparison"

Hello,

I have a combobox with items = Choices('Quick product identifier database'.Metal_select)

I'm trying to get the default selected item (so the galler shows something at first) to be on of the choices, "Ferrous alloys".

I tried going to DefaultSelectedItems for the combobox and put in the LookUp function as I found elsewhere online, but I am getting an error for incompatibility. See photo.

Miss_Zo_0-1696442016033.png

LookUp('Quick product identifier database', Metal_select = 'Ferrous alloys')

The program doesn't like the = sign.

Error "Incompatible types for comparison. These types can't be compared: Table, Record.

I'm using SharePoint for the data.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Yes. SharePoint has a multiselect choice column. I'm displaying all the choices in ComboBox1

So ComboBox1 has the Items set to = Choices('Quick product identifier database'.Metal_select)

The ComboBox1 has the dropdown that lets me select multiple choices.

The gallery then filters the products by those choices.

Here is the column from my sharepoint

Could the way the gallery is filtering be an issue?

Please let me know if you want/need any other information.

That will be available when you click on more options.

Thanks,

Yes. The sharepoint is a choice column in my sheet.

The ComboBox1 pulls from this column using the following in the Items tab

Choices('Quick product identifier database'.Metal_select)

Miss_Zo_1-1696450701818.png

The gallery then filters based on one or more selections made from that ComboBox1.

The problem is when nothing is selected in the ComboBox1 the gallery is blank. Maybe I'm going about this in the wrong way. Is there a better way to show all options (products) in the gallery when nothing is selected? Then, as people chose their selections the gallery filters based off that?

Or, is it better for me to have a default selection in the combobox so something shows in the gallery?

Yes this is selected. I'm sorry I replied a second time. I didn't see that the first reply went through.

Hi @Miss_Zo , Thanks for the information. Does the combo box is just used for filter in app? If yes, then you can turn "Allow multiple selections" to  No in SP list and check the behavior because you have combo box as multi select already in app.

The sharepoint list must be able to select multiple options.

I needed the comobox type to be able to pull the list and for the user to select mulitple options. i.e. Zinc and Steel

The gallery filters the sharepoint list choice column of Metal_select for any product that contains both zinc and steel in the Metal_select choice.

I think the better option for me would be to look into having the gallery show the full list if nothing in the combobox is selected. Then, as users select options the gallery begins filtering based on those options.

Hi @Miss_Zo , I tried with multi select in SP list and i get delegation error and i suspect that is issue. So, if the requirement is that if nothing is selected in combo box then you want to still show the items in gallery, then in that case i would suggest to check this video which can help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr42PeW6_wU

Filter(SPLIST,
Or(IsBlank(ComboBox1.SeletedItems),
IsEmpty(ComboBox1.SeletedItems),
Your condition that you have)
)

Hi @Miss_Zo , I mean this:

Filter(
     'Quick product identifier database',
   Or(
      IsBlank(ComboBox1.SeletedItems),
      IsEmpty(ComboBox1.SeletedItems),
      CountRows(.........) = CountRows(ComboBox1.SeletedItems)
     )
)

I hope this helps.
