Comparing years from two dates

Hello!

I would like to know how can I compare years from two diferente dates.

I am building na app for purchase request. Once users submit their request a RequestDate info is sent to data base.

I want the app to compare the  year from current data using Year(Now()) function (when users hit submit buttom)  to the year from the last RequestDate data (screenshot attached).

Could you please advise how this is possible? Is there a formula to get only the year from RequestDate info, in order to compare with current date?

You can obtain the year from the last record in your Excel table like this

Year(Last(your_datasource_name).RequestStatus)

Additionally, to ensure you have the correct 'Last' record, I would also recommend that you filter and sort the Excel data.

Basically, you need to determine if you only need the last row (then sort by the date column, so oldest is listed last), and if you need only a certain oldest row (then filter to a subset, like the users submission, and sort so oldest is last, or even most recent is last, to tell time since last submission).

Thank you for your support but I still can't get this right.

My data source is a table called PO1Table and in it I have the column RequestDate.

I just want the information from the colum RequestDate when I use Last function.

Is that a way I can only get only the last info from RequestDate column? How would be the formula for that?

To get the last date from the RequestStatus column use this code.  You can put this code in the Text property of a label to test it.

Last(PO1Table).RequestDate

Thank you, but I still can't get it right.

This part is working fine: Last(PO1Table).RequestDate

But when I add the Year function, it does not work: Year(Last(PO1Table).RequestDate).RequestStatus)

It seems that .RequestStatus is not working. I don't see it in the dropdown options when I include the Year function.

Is there another option for .RequestStatus?

I think you may be mixing objectives.

You can get the Year value of the last row of the table with @mdevaney 's function. This is simply the single date cell from that row.

However, if you want the corresponding status column then you need to do it a bit differently.

You'll need to isolate the row, and then extract the status column.

Last ( SortByColumns ( PO1Table , "RequestDate", Descending )).RequestStatus

You may need to also Filter the table so the last row is not simply the last row of the table as a whole, but maybe the last row of last year or the last row the user submitted.

Are you trying to find the last date with a Status of "Requested"?  Then do this...

Year(First(Sort(Filter(PO1Table, Status="Requested"), RequestDate, Descending)).RequestDate)
