Connect two galleries from same datasource to common detail screen and edit screen (issues with previous solution)

I have two galleries from the same datasource.

Gallery1 = All Data

Gallery2 = Filtered list (made two galleries b/c the overview info displayed will be different)

Gallery > Details

"For example, you can have each gallery navigate to the Display Form Page like so: Navigate( 'DisplayFormPage', None, {View: ThisItem}) Then have the Items in your Display Form = View.

The result is that I was able to click on the "Detail Button" from either of the Galleries and have them go to the correct record in the Details screen.  HOWEVER 

Details Screen > Edit Screen

"having the navigate command say something along the lines of Navigate('Edit Page', None, {Edit: View}). Then have the selected item of the Edit_Form on that page be Edit."

I changed the "edit icon" on the details screen to the first part and no issues or error.   When I changed the Edit_Form item to say Edit I get an error  "invalid formula.  Expected a value compatible with datasource"

I posted a question on that thread but it is several years old so not sure anyone is still looking at it.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @barkir ,

Firstly, you have accepted your original post as the solution - this will be confusing.

Now to your issue. The reason you will have issues with the trash can code is that it will delete whatever is selected in Gallery 1. If nothing has been selected, I suspect this will be the first record.

Easy to fix - set a Variable (call it whatever you want - I will use vGallNo) when you navigate to one of the galleries. So for Gallery 2, put at the end of the present code

Set(vGallNo,2)

and the same for Gallery 1.

Your delete code would then be - (not totally sure on the last bit)

RemoveIf(
   ['Coverage'],
   If(
      vGallNo=1,
      BrowseGallery1.Selected,
      BrowseGallery2.Selected
   )
);

If(
   IsEmpty(Errors(['Coverage'], 
   If(
      VGallNo=1,
      BrowseGallery1.Selected,
      BrowseGallery2.Selected
   ),
   Back()
)

Hi @barkir ,

No, at the end of the Navigate code you use to switch to the gallery - this will set a Variable that will tell your code which gallery to update from.

Hi @WarrenBelz , sorry still having issues.

Both of my navigation buttons to the details for for both Gallery1 and Gallery 2 are now

Navigate(DetailForm1,None,{displayitem:ThisItem});Set(vGallNo,2)

This took with no issues.

I then changed the trash icon on the Details screen to On Select:

RemoveIf(['Coverage'], If(vGallNo=1,BrowseGallery1.Selected,BrowseGallery2.Selected));

If(IsEmpty(Errors(['Coverage'],If(vGallNo=1, BrowseGallery1.Selected, BrowseGallery2.Selected), Back())

And now I am getting an error that the If function has some invalid arguments.  Thanks for sticking with me.  I appreciate it!!

I am trying to understand what you are trying to achieve - please tell me if the structure is logical for you - I will deal with any errors after that. If you have any, please tell me where the red lines are and what the error is.

@WarrenBelz hopefully this helps show what I am trying to accomplish.  If you look to the right anything underlined in red is also what is showing up as an underlined red area in my formula.   The exact error states "the function "if" has some invalid arguments Location icondelete1.OnSelect

OK your gallery does not contain the ID of the item - I can also see where you are going - you left out the Navigate command. Try this. I assume the galleries are formed directly from the list (not collections)

       BrowseGallery2.Selected

Back at my PC now (could not check the last one from the iPad) - my initial code was correct except you did not have an ID in your gallery.

Replace ColumnName below with any column name from your gallery.

Hi @WarrenBelz I think we are getting closer.

As you wrote it I still got errors, so I removed the brackets as sometimes I see them there and sometimes I don't to see if that would make a difference

becomes

'coverage'

The good news is that I got no errors.  I could still get to my details screen from either gallery and after hitting the trash icon it went back to the appropriate gallery.   The bad news is that it didn't actually delete anything from either gallery or the datasource.
