Hi, I have a SharePoint list with a column where I store PenInput content
Using flow, I want to convert this content into a jpg or png file and insert it into the Word template
Can you help me with this conversion?

Hi @Mjetek404 ,
You need to store the image as Base64 Text (using JSON) in a Multi-line text field and then make a file in OneDrive using base64ToBinary conversion. You can then use the content of this as the content of your image merge control in Word. I use the same process for signatures on PDF documents generated from Word Merges. I have a blog that should assist you here.

Thank you for your help
@WarrenBelz Hi Sir. How does this work with a CSV file please? I have tried following your blog but it is not working.
@mart11 ,
It does not work for that - this post is about putting an image in a Word Merge.
@Mjetek404 or @WarrenBelz , any chance you can share a sample solution? I read the blog but not able to apply it to my needs BUT so far what you are talking about is the closest to my situation.
Summary: I have a SharePoint list with a column of type IMAGE called "Screen Shot" that ultimately needs to appear in a Word Template.
The flow of the IMAGE needs to be: SP->PowerApps->PowerAutomate->Word file (generated by PowerAutomate)
I have the PowerApp working great and PowerAutomate generating the Word doc with text values from the SP item that the user selected. BUT, I can't get the IMAGE from SharePoint into PowerAutomate to populate the Word doc.
What I get from SP for the image is something like "appres://datasources/<name_of_my_SP_list>/table/<then a bunch of stuff>"
Sounds like there is a way to convert this "appres://" into an image ... right?
You stated convert this text into Base64 then into a file using OneDrive ... but I can't figure it out from your blog.
Any help would be great!
Hi @Anonymous ,
My blog did not use this Field Type (Image) - it actually did not work with Power Apps when the thread was written, however if you display the Image file on the screen in an Add Picture Control (Power Apps will do this natively when you add this to a Form), then using the Image control within this I will call it Image1 here), this will get you the Base64 string to send to the Flow
With(
{
wJSON:
With(
{
wJSONI:
JSON(
Image1.Image,
JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData
)
},
Mid(

)
},
Set(

@WarrenBelz appreciate the input - but - have to say I am not quite sure where to implement your code snippet.
For more context, I have a Gallery in PowerApps that is populated from a SharePoint list and I am able to VIEW and CHANGE the IMAGE column from the PowerApps - and - need a way to pass the image FileName from SP into PowerAutomate as well.
But, when I call the PowerAutomate RUN ... I need to pass in the image - so that - in PowerAutomate I can pass the image to the "Populate a Microsoft Word Template" connector. The PowerAutomate is called "StorySummaryV2.1" and the Gallery is called "GalUseCaseList".
Here is my code snippet calling the Run() that returns a URL to the Word document that is generated.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Set(varDownloadURL, 'StorySummaryV2.1'.Run(GalUseCaseList.Selected.'Screen Shot'.Full).theFileURL
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two questions:
1) Where do I implement your code snippet?
2) How do I pass the file name for the image that is stored in the SharePoint list? (hint, I wonder if I need to somehow use the "SharePoint -> Site Assets -> List -> <SP List GUID>" where the SP list images are stored)
Hi @Anonymous ,
The only way I know reliably is to:-
I do this (with a Signature out of Power Apps) regularly into Word merges.
I had a look at a Flow, but there is no way I can see to get the File Content (which you will need) from that field type out of a List - the field name simply was not available.
