Converting Context Variables

I'm stumped and need some help.

I'm passing a numeric (text?) sharepoint list item ID number via a context variable to another screen within my app.

The context variable is called myID. On the other screen I want to use myID to perform a lookup function to set a combo box value to the value of a specific column filtered by the list item ID.

I've currently got the following in the "Items" field of the combo box:

LookUp(SharePointListName,ID=myID,'Job Number')

 This produces an incompatible type comparison error that I'm not sure how to resolve. ID is of type number while myID is a control. How do I convert myID so that my lookup function will work?

Try to use LookUp(SharePointListName,ID=myID.Value,'Job Number') and if it doesn't work use LookUp(SharePointListName,ID=Value(myID),'Job Number') to convert it to comparable records.

Nope I tried both of those already.

The first produces an incompatible type error of "Number & Error"

The second produces several errors:

The second one produces errors as the column is not in the expected format. If Value isn't working check to call the item.

LookUp(SharePointListName,ID=ThisItem.myID,'Job Number') or if it's a record LookUp(SharePointListName,ID=ThisRecord.myID,'Job Number')

Do you mean what type the Job Number column is? It is a single line of text type column. I tried both ThisItem and ThisRecord and that isn't working either.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say myID is a control - earlier in your message, you say that myID is the name of your context variable. So is myID a context variable or a control?

The main isssue here is that the Items property of a ComboBox control expects a list or table of records. LookUp doesn't fulfill this task because it returns a single record. The answer here is to call the Filter function. To display the Job Number, you would add 'Job Number' to the display fields property.

I just called it a control based off the error message that seemed to suggest that it was. myID is a context variable. I'm a powerapps noob in a lot of respects and im just kind of fumbling my way through building this form.

Could you elaborate on "you would add 'Job Number' to the display fields property."?

I placed the below into the items property of the combobox

 and I get an error:

So it looks like they may be some other control in your app that's called myID. I'd use a different name for your context variable to see if that makes a difference (eg, locID).

Filter(SharePointListName,ID=locID)

To display the Job Number in a ComboBox, you would need to add it the Display Fields property like so.

Try using a collection that captures the values of myID or locID as it's expecting a table record for the control, then on the function change it to use the collection

Filter(SharePointListName,ID in yourCollectionForLocID)

Even after changing the context variable name it's the same error.
