Copy text to clipboard using new custom ribbon commands (Model-Driven)

Hi all, 

I am trying to use the Power Fx 'Copy' function to copy the text of a field into the users clipboard, but I can't get it to work. First I tried Copy(Self.Selected.Item.FieldName); Notify("Copied " & Self.Selected.Item.FieldName & " was copied to clipboard"). The result gave me the notification with the correct value but what was copied to the clipboard was literally "Self.Selected.Item.FieldName". I then tried using With() to first hold the field text as a variable but then nothing was being copied to the clipboard at all.

Any ideas why this function is not working as expected when used in a custom ribbon command?

@ShantanuPYes I realized that after the fact and couldn't delete the post 🙂

I don't know why it won't work for me. Could you try doing just text, like Copy("ABCDEFG") and confirm that that works for you. I should try to resolve why that doesn't even work for me before worrying about copying a field value.

Right, Copy-Function seams not to work in custom ribbons. Unbelievable and really sad that so many functions seam not to work in ribbons. I have experienced the same with sending e-mails using outlook-connector from custom ribbon. It would be really helpful to use this copy-function there!!! MS-guys: please do your very best!!!

@AlexAllachI am not overly surprised. It seems like a very simple function, but the command ribbon is a very complex beast, and the copy function was designed to copy things from canvas apps so the code behind it probably doesn't work the same outside of a canvas app.

There might be a way to do this using the ribbon workbench, but for my need that would be way too much trouble.
