Hi, I need help with power apps please. I'm creating a booking app with SharePoint as my data source. I have 3 columns in SP (ClientName, a single line of text, StartDateTime and EndDateTime both Date and Time. I also have a column for duration to calculate hours booked per day per client.
Requirements:
Let’s say I’m bookings for March 2 -5 from at 6am-8pm and make this booking to occur 2x. I need SP to show one entry each from March 2-5 with 6am – 8pm start and end time.
In power apps, I have:
ClientName – dropdown for ClientName
sDate - start date picker
eDate - end date picker
sTime – dropdown for start time
eTime – dropdown for end time
recurring - text input to enter # of recurrings
On the onSelect of my OK button to submit booking, I have the below:
Set(Start, sDate.SelectedDate + sTime.Selected.Value);
Set(End, eDate.SelectedDate + sTime.Selected.Value);
Set(varRecord, LookUp('Anchorage', StartDateTime <= Start && EndDateTime > Start || StartDateTime > Start && EndDateTime <= End || StartDateTime < Start && EndDateTime > End));
ForAll(Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) As recurringmeetings, Patch(‘SP’, {ID:varCurrentEvent.ID,’ClientName’: ClientName.Selected.Clients, StartDateTime: sDate.SelectedDate+(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+sTime.Selected.Value, EndDateTime:sDate.SelectedDate+(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+eTime.Selected.Value})), Notify("Date Conflict, Booking already exist for selected date and time!", NotificationType.Error));
Using the above formula, I can see booking for March 2 and March 9 both 6-8am but the rest of the booking within the date range selected is not showing. I should be able to see from March 2-5 then from March 9-12 same time 6-8am.
How can I tweak this formula to show in SP all the time I booked within the selected date. Appreciate all your help. Thanks!

Hi @Vanessasec :
Usually a thread only solves one problem, because it helps other forum users to find the answers they want more easily.So I advice you do not ask questions continuously in one thread. If you have new questions, please consider creating a new thread.
In addition,I suggest you try this formula:
Set(Start, sDate.SelectedDate + sTime.Selected.Value);
Set(End, eDate.SelectedDate + sTime.Selected.Value);
CountRows(Filter(
ForAll(
Ungroup(ForAll(
Sequence(
Value(recurring.Text),
0,
1
) As recurringmeetings,
ForAll(
Sequence(
DateDiff(
sDate.SelectedDate,
eDate.SelectedDate,
Days
) + 1,
0,
1
) As subloop,
{
TheStartDateTime: DateAdd(
sDate.SelectedDate,
(recurringmeetings[@Value] * 7) + subloop[@Value],
Days
) + sTime.Selected.Value,
TheEndDateTime: DateAdd(
sDate.SelectedDate,
(recurringmeetings[@Value] * 7) + subloop[@Value],
Days
) + eTime.Selected.Value
}
)
),"Value") As TheLoopBody,
LookUp(
'Anchorage',And(TheLoopBody[@TheStartDateTime]>=StartDateTime,TheLoopBody[@TheStartDateTime]<EndDateTime)||And(TheLoopBody[@TheEndDateTime]>StartDateTime,TheLoopBody[@TheEndDateTime]<=EndDateTime)||And(TheLoopBody[@TheStartDateTime]<=StartDateTime,TheLoopBody[@TheEndDateTime]>=EndDateTime)
)
),!IsBlank(StartDateTime))
);
If(varRecord=0,
ForAll(
Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) As recurringmeetings,
ForAll(
Sequence(DateDiff(sDate.SelectedDate,eDate.SelectedDate,Days)+1,0,1) As subloop,
Patch(
'Anchorage',
{StartDateTime: DateAdd(sDate.SelectedDate,(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+subloop[@Value],Days)+sTime.Selected.Value,
EndDateTime:DateAdd(sDate.SelectedDate,(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+subloop[@Value],Days)+eTime.Selected.Value
}))),
Notify("Conflict", NotificationType.Error));

Bof
Hi Bof,
Apologies for asking lots of questions on this thread. This is the first time I raised question here and so thankful for your help. The last formula is exactly what I need and worked perfectly. Thank you so much for all your help! You're awesome, you have no idea how much you've helped me. Thanks again 🙂
Best regards
Vanessa
Hi @Vanessasec :
Sorry I can't understand the meaning of this sentence.
"Using the above formula, I can see booking for March 2 and March 9 both 6-8am but the rest of the booking within the date range selected is not showing. I should be able to see from March 2-5 then from March 9 -12 same time 6-8am."
Could you tell me:
If so,please try:
Set(
varRecord,
LookUp(
'Anchorage',
(StartDateTime <= Start && EndDateTime > Start) ||
(StartDateTime < End && EndDateTime >= End) ||
(StartDateTime < Start && EndDateTime > End)
)
);
Best Regards,
Bof
Hi Bof,
Thanks for your response. When I try to make booking from March 2 - 5 with 6am-8am time and make recurring 2x, I would like to show booking each day from March 2, 3, 4, 5 and March 9,10, 11, and 12 with the same time 6am -8am. BUT right now I can only see booking for March 2 and March 9, I can't see any booking for March 2, 3,4,5, 10, 11 and 12
SharePoint
If there's a way for me to show booking each row for the selected recurring time range, then I won't problem checking for duplicates as well. Hope this makes sense. Appreciate your help. Thanks again!
Hi @Vanessasec :
Could you tell me:
If it is varRecord.The point is that lookup function will only return one record, not all records that meet the conditions. If you need to get all the records that meet the conditions, you should use filter.
Set(
varRecord,
Filter(
'Anchorage',
(StartDateTime <= Start && EndDateTime > Start) ||
(StartDateTime < End && EndDateTime >= End) ||
(StartDateTime < Start && EndDateTime > End)
)
);
If it is ‘SP’.The key is that the value of Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) is [1, 2], so the entire loop can only be executed 2 times. So Patch is executed only 2 times, and you can only get two records.
Best Regards,
Bof
Hi Bof,
Anchorage is my data source. I just SP there to shorten it, sorry for the confusion.
varRecord is my conflict date range, hence when it's blank I can patch but when it's not it gives me error.
How can I modify the sequence so it will allow me to show a record for each day of the selected date range?
How can I set the recurring for it? Thanks again for your help.
Best regards,
Vanessa
Hi @Vanessasec :
I suggest you replace Lookup with Filter to get multiple records.
Best Regards,
Bof
Hi Bof, I don't have issue identifying conflict in varRecord. My issue is I cannot show booking for each day within the selected date range. Taking the conflict out of the equation, how can I show bookings for each day of the selected date range and make it recurring?
I tried to tweak the formula to this:
ForAll(Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) As recurringmeetings, Patch('Anchorage ', {ID:varCurrentEvent.ID,'Client Name': drp_ClientName.Selected.Clients, StartDateTime: sDate.SelectedDate+(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+sTime.Selected.Value, EndDateTime:eDate.SelectedDate+(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+eTime.Selected.Value})),
I booked March 3- 5, 6am - 8am and make recurring 2 to stand for 2 weeks of same time booking. It worked perfectly on the power apps as I could show booking for each day from March 3-5 and same time booking from March 10-12 but my SharePoint only shows two bookings from March 3-5 and March 10-12 and the duration is 50hrs each.
How can I tweak the formula so the SharePoint would show same 2hour (6am-8am) booking per day from March 3-5 and from March 10-12? Technically I need Sharepoint to show like this:
Client | StartDateTime | EndDatetime | Duration |
Vanessa | 3/05/2021 | 3/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Vanessa | 4/05/2021 | 4/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Vanessa | 5/05/2021 | 5/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Vanessa | 9/05/2021 | 9/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Vanessa | 10/05/2021 | 10/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Vanessa | 11/05/2021 | 11/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Vanessa | 12/05/2021 | 12/05/2021 | 2 hour |
Sorry for all the confusion. Really appreciate your help.
Best regards,
Vanessa
Hi @Vanessasec :
I get it.
Firstly,let me explain why you encountered this problem.
The key is that the value of Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) is [1, 2], so the entire loop can only be executed 2 times. So Patch is executed only 2 times, and you can only get two records.
Secondly,to solve this problem, you also need to embed a loop.Please try:
ForAll(
Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) As recurringmeetings,
ForAll(
Sequence(DateDiff(sDate.SelectedDate,eDate.SelectedDate,Days)+1,0,1) As subloop,
Patch(
Anchorage,
{
ID:varCurrentEvent.ID,
'Client Name': drp_ClientName.Selected.Clients,
StartDateTime: DateAdd(sDate.SelectedDate,(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+subloop[@Value],Days)+sTime.Selected.Value,
EndDateTime:DateAdd(sDate.SelectedDate,(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+subloop[@Value],Days)+eTime.Selected.Value
}
)
)
)
Best Regards,
Bof
Hi Bof,
This is brilliant! My recurring booking worked as expected and I'm getting entry for each day booked within the selected time range. However when I tried to put "checking for conflict" option, I'm getting invalid argument and unexpected character error. I tried to change the lookup to filter but it still didn't work. Would you be able to tell me what wrong am I doing, please?
Set(Start, sDate.SelectedDate + sTime.Selected.Value);
Set(End, eDate.SelectedDate + sTime.Selected.Value);
Set(varRecord, LookUp('Anchorage ', StartDateTime <= Start && EndDateTime > Start || StartDateTime > Start && EndDateTime <= End || StartDateTime < Start && EndDateTime > End));
If(IsBlank(varRecord,
ForAll(
Sequence(Value(recurring.Text),0, 1) As recurringmeetings,
ForAll(
Sequence(DateDiff(sDate.SelectedDate,eDate.SelectedDate,Days)+1,0,1) As subloop,
Patch(
'Anchorage ',
{StartDateTime: DateAdd(sDate.SelectedDate,(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+subloop[@Value],Days)+sTime.Selected.Value,
EndDateTime:DateAdd(sDate.SelectedDate,(recurringmeetings[@Value]*7)+subloop[@Value],Days)+eTime.Selected.Value
})));
Notify("Date Conflict, Booking already exist for selected date and time!", NotificationType.Error));
Thank you again for your help! Really appreciate it 🙂
Best regards
Vanessa
