Creation date and modification date

Hello guys!

I'm building a CRUD form app and I need to create 2 date fields that stores automatically dates in the next way:

Creation date: the date when the form was submitted

Modification date: the date when the form (selected register) was updated.

Both fields will be hide in the form. I already figure out that I need to use the NOW() function to store the dates, however I don't know how to set the properties in the fields in a way that when the form is in Edit Mode the creation date field must not store the current date and only update the modification date.

Might I ask where you are storing your data? If it is in a Sharepoint list, created and modified are default columns that every list already has. You just have to make them visible if you want to see them, but they are there.

I'm storing my data in an online excel file.

This is a capture of my form. The 2 highlighted fields are the date fields that will be hide and that I need them to store the dates the way I mention in my first message.

I am not 100% sure of the way things are written when utilizing excel as the data source. Perhaps someone else will chime in on that part. I would recommend switching to SharePoint as your source though, it will handle the two columns you are looking for by itself, and will prevent you from experiencing errors once multiple people try to use your apps simultaneously (which is an issue with an excel datasource)

Could you please share with me how would I move the data source to Sharepoint and set the 2 date colums in the way I'm looking?

Just set yourself up a sharepoint list with the  OTHER columns you need (SharePoint by default will already have a created and edited dated column hidden in the list that you can reference & display in powerapps that it updates every time a record is altered all by itself. After you have the datasource set up its just a matter of taking the time to comb through your code one control at a time to change them from excel to the new source. It may take a little time to set up the first time, but it will make a big improvement long term for your application.
