Customizable Gallery

Hello everyone

I have the following challenge. I have a table in dataverse with 10 different fields. There should be a possibility to let the individual users (who are logged in) manually select the fields that should be displayed in the gallery. This means, for example, that user A can display fields A, B and C in the gallery and user B can display fields B, E and H. Do you have any ideas? Any inspiration is welcome.

1. Your Gallery will need to have the same number of controls (e.g. Labels) that equals to the number of Columns that you want the users to view from the Table.
2. You will need to allow the users to select which Columns they want to see. Using checkboxes would be ideal for this.
3. Set the Visible property of the controls in the Gallery to match the selection of checkboxes.

I tried that, but when labels are hidden, there is a gap (see attachment) how do I get another selected control/label there? how does it become dynamic? How does it work that the new label knows which position it is coming to? Because as you can see in the pictures, the column in the gallery is full.

@alt88 To get it pixel perfect you have to play with the X Y co-ordinates of the visible Labels.

Unfortunately, I am in despair. I have set the x and y so that one field is always attached to another, i.e. field B to A and C to B, but if someone hides field A or the previous one, then they are all subsequently gone. The user should be able to hide/show any field.

No, unfortunately, the fields have different lengths and even the contents. This means that field A and B have different lengths, but the content of field A also has different lengths. For example, it can be a short address or a very long one.

@alt88 In that case you will need a Horizontal Gallery with scroll bar. Assuming that X is fixed for all the Labels,

1. Store the lengths of all the possible columns in a collection. (E.g. Name: Column1 Length: 40 / Name: Column2 Length: 30 etc.,).
2. Fix a starting point for Y (Say 5).
3. Then have another collection to store only the selected columns (Names and the Y values - this has to be calculated from the starting point. E.g. Col1:5, Col3:5+length of Col1, Col5:5+length of Col1+length of Col3 etc.,)
4. If the Label is visible, find the matching record in the second collection and set the Y value.

@alt88 Unfortunately, what you are trying to do is a bit complex which needs a complex solution. Let me break it down for you.

The important points.

1. You should know which columns you want to display. Store this information in a collection.
2. You should know the length of each column. Store this also in the same collection.
3. Keep the X co-ordinate fixed. i.e, the Columns will be displayed one next to the other (Left to Right).
4. As an example, the first column will have X-5 Y-5.
5. The second column will have X-5 Y-5+Length of column2
6. The third column will have X-5 Y-5+Length of column2+Length of column3
7. And so on....
