DEVELOPER FEEDBACK - Concerning Maker Save Behavior

Let me preface by saying I create apps using the solution approach. My solutions are in their own environment and not the default. I do not use autosave and consider it a risky thing to turn on given how hard it can be to find an issue when the maker throws hundreds or errors.

I am deeply concerned by the maker platform's confusion regarding how it knows when a save is needed.

Let start with the app maker. When I open an app, the platform immediately executes the code in the app.start. This is fine and expected, however the minute that is complete the platform seems to think a save is needed as the button becomes enabled. Nothing has been changed in the code and in my opinion nothing executed by the app.start should be able to make code changes. You can imagine the hesitation any good developer is going to have wondering what is happening in the background. This needs to be checked and resolved as execution should never have any impact on the code.

The same issue exists with the Flow maker though more specific to child and embedded flows. I can open any of these flows, do nothing and click the back arrow to leave. The platform challenges me in one of two way all the time:

1) The typical pop up that indicates something was changed

2) A new popup as on 10/1 that now says someone else has changed the code giving me three options

Let me be clear that there is no one else with access to these flows and regardless of the popup displayed, no changes were made. Again, it's had to have confidence saving a flow that seems to think something has changed. Did something change in the background, I have no idea. Is it safe to save...again no idea.

These situation do not instill confidence in the platform and force a bunch of unnecessary Save As actions as a just in case protection.

I have no other means of reporting these issues as there is no official site where bugs and defects can be reported and addressed. My hope is Microsoft Platform Engineers are reviewing this site.

Why do I need to post obvious issues in an idea forum? I am not suggesting something new but asking that something broken be fixed. If this forum is not the place to get support from Microsoft, might you know where to post?

This is a user forum and although some Microsoft employees may monitor this from time to time, it is primarily responded by users. There is however a formal process for progressing improvement suggestions, which is the Ideas Forum I posted.

There are millions of users around the world using this product and many have different views on the desired ideal workflow. The issues you have raised have been mentioned before, so additional input, although always welcome will not be raising anything new.
