Data displays in dev preview mode but won't display in production

Hi
I'm at a loss with this.
While viewing one of my apps in preview mode (e.g. while developing it) all the data is displayed correctly.
However, when accessing the App in production mode (e.g. with the web URL) the data doesn't display either at all or just fragments.

I've built a few apps and not had this problem before. I've tried flushing my browser cache, forcing the app to refresh and using a different browser, all to no avail. I've even tried rebuilding the app - this started okay but then the problem reoccured part way through so I abandoned the rebuild.

The attached shows the screen shots of the dev preview versus production.

What is really bugging me is that the app with the problem is actually quite simple compared to the others I've built.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Can you please try to disable the "preview" functions from the applications settings one-by-one and see if any of those cause the application to work normally in playback mode?

@Anonymous, have you tried disabling the Explicit Column selection feature as per Paul's suggestion above?

Hello,

Is your chart control bound to a collection that is created from a SQL source by any chance?

I am experiencing the same issue.

My data is on Azure SQL DB. Working perfectly in the designer view (and when I 'play' from within the designer view) but if I try to run from mobile or in web, my data is not populating.

To test, I created a new App with a single control, a data table based on a newly created table in SQL (two columns, ID, identity field set as the key and a varchar(10) field with some sample text). Nothing else in the App, just the connection to the SQL table and the datatable.

Screen shot below. Same screen - on the left running under the designer, on the right opened in Play mode. There are no filters or calculations, this is purely the data returned from the Azure SQL DB tables.

Can you please try to disable the "preview" functions from the applications settings one-by-one and see if any of those cause the application to work normally in playback mode?

Turned them all off and that seems to fix the issue - will test them one by one to see if I can see which one is responsible for the issue/bug.

Thank you! That would be very helpful.

Looks like it is the Explicit Column selection feature.

Hi
The chart is bound to a collection created from a SQL source (running on Azure), I needed to agregate data for the charts.

However, it's not just the chart that's not displaying its almost all the data - as you can see with the values returned (or not as the case) in the display on the left.

What I'm finding difficult to figure out is that I have two other apps running off the same SQL database that also use collections etc. and these work fine.

I also have a couple of data tables in the app and I've tried switching these to pull the data direct from the SQL database and these still won't display the data in the app.

It's almost as if the app is stuck (and/or malformed on the production server) and needs to be flushed through to clear the block.

Cheers
Gary

Now getting really frustrated.

I've created a completely new App with just one SQL connection, one page and one data table connected directly (i.e. '[dbo].[MyTable]').

As you can see from the attached, the data displays as expected in dev preview mode but is blank when viewed in production (live).

I've also tried the same with my dev SQL database and get the same problem.

I have three apps connected to each SQL database (using the same connection in PowerApps for each database i.e. 3 on production and 3 on dev). Is there a limit on how many Apps can share the same SQL connection that only becomes visible when accessing the app in live/production mode?

Or is there some other restiction to my account?

I really need to get to the bottom of this asap

Thank you Paul for confirming.
