Hey there,
I've been customising the form for a SP list - a mistake in hindsight, but you live and learn - and it's quite complicated. After some help from this forum a few weeks ago i've got submitting all the forms across multiple screens working using a variable and a master form.
However, once I submit an item, if I go and reopen it then it shows old data - either the last item I had open before that or blank data. If I close it, then reopen it again then it pops up with right information, same as if I refresh the page then open something.
Bit of googling took me to https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Power-Apps-Custom-Forms-not-refreshing-on-ed... and https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/PowerApp-form-editing-problem-with-refresh/m... , both of which mention using the Refresh() command. I've tried that in a few different places - on the OnSuccess of the 'master form', on the OnSuccess of a couple of the other forms and in the OnSave/OnEdit/OnView of SharePointIntegration but none of them seem to work.
Anyone got any advice and how to get the list form to show the correct data?
Thanks 🙂
Hey there,
Thanks for that - shouldn't all my all other forms be set to <Master Form>.Mode? I thought that's what it should be from your video guide on multi form submission - though I have realised I never stated which one was the master form.
Form1 is the Master Form. I've got all the other forms mode set to Form1.Mode. Thinking that i've got confused at some point, as when I thought about it more it seemed wrong, I changed the ResetForm()'s in OnNew, OnEdit and OnView to Form1 rather than Form12.
View still isnt working, shows old data. However, i'd not thought to check this before, but if I click Edit All then is *does* show the right data, so it's just View thats broken.
I've found mentioned here - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/functions/function-form - that ResetForm() doesn't work on a form when it's in View Mode, could this be affecting it? I'm not quite sure at which point OnView fires.
Cheers 🙂
I had assumed that Form12 was your master form because you have references such as EditForm(Form12) in your formulas. So, yes, the forms should all be set to the form mode of the master form. I now see looking that other actions that it is Form1.
If you are using ViewForm any place, then you would be referencing the master form in the function, never any of the individual forms as they are all linked to the master. So your OnView action should be ViewForm(Form1).
Forms in View mode cannot be reset because they are already reset. If you have a form in Edit mode and then make changes to it (never submitting) and then change the form to View with ViewForm - it will automatically reset itself.
Have you made any changes on the SharePointIntegration (SPI) actions yet??
Also, one other consideration for the fact that those actions will not occur unless you do something like edit all, is to account for it on the OnVisible action of the main screen.
So, to combat the actions from the SPI (as they will conflict) you'd need to change the OnNew action of the SPI to include a : Set(SPIaction, "New")
Then in the OnVisible action of your main screen, perform the following formula:
If(!(SPIaction = "New"), Set(glbCurrentItem, SharePointIntegration.Selected); Set(SPIaction, Blank()))
This will grab the current selected record into the variable for the forms, unless you are specifically creating (New) a record from the SP interface.
Hey there,
Okay, i'm glad i'd at least understood things enough to realise i'd made mistakes in the ResetForm()'s.
Attached is a screenshot of my SPI actions as it stands.
I'll have a go at the stuff you talk about to do with OnVisible - I can understand what that's doing and it can't do any harm to try it 🙂
Thanks again for the help with this.
Yes, implement the OnVisible and that should get you further along.
What you mentioned before keyed me into one of the issues...when you click on the item, you see the old stuff. If you click on Edit All, you see the stuff you should. The OnVisible should help resolve that issue.
Let's see how it goes.
Hey there,
I tried altering the OnNew and adding the bits to the OnVisible but it still didn't seem to be working. I wondered if my master form not being on Screen1 could be an issue so I moved that to Screen1 but that didnt change anything.
As I had some time I did much more googling and hunting as I now had more of an idea of what was happening. Found loads of threads with people having problems with SharePointIntegration not loading data - can't help but feel this something MS need to look into being done better or at least more reliably - but most of them talked about SharePointIntegration.Selected not loading. I know this isn't the case as I set a textbox to pull a field fromSharePointIntegration.Selected and that works.
Eventually I came across this thread - https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Bug-SharePointIntegration-actions/td-p/87199 and in post 7 someone suggested setting the variable by using a LookUp to find the record.
That has finally got it working.
I'm assuming there's caveats in this with LookUp slowing down the record loading but it gets it working for now. I plan to rebuild the whole thing totally in PowerApps instead of customising an SP list as that had brought me nothing but misery, but after nary a dickie bird for months about it from management it all of a sudden needs to be out there and working yesterday if not sooner, so this'll tide us over.
Thank you for your help with this, i've learnt quite a bit about how this all works that i'm sure will help in the future. Attached is my SPI settings as they stand now as well as the OnVisible on Screen1
Yes, doing a lookup was going to be the next step to take...glad you took it 😁
That is not going to slow anything down. Lookup will lookup against the datasource which will already have the values needed. Datasource is local to your app.
SO...everything is now working fine??
Hey there,
Sorry, I meant to reply over the weekend but it just slipped away. Aye, this bits working fine now. 🙂
Now onto the next bit, lets see how I get on there 😄
Thanks again 🙂
