Dataverse tables and accessing from canvas app

Hello,

I have a project in power apps where I should get from user a fruit and a weight and I need to calculate the final price based on the price_per_gram value.

My approach was to store the product_name and the price_per_gram values in a table in the dataverse and when needed I retrieve the value of price_per_gram based on the fruit selected (this will let the owner change his prices without having to modify the app) and calculate price_per_gram * weight = final price

now come my problems:

dataverse table are different that normal that normal table so I would like to know how can I manually add rows in my table?

second of all, assuming that the user will always enter the correct fruit name (no syntax error), how can I retrieve the price_per_gram corresponding to the fruit name and use it in a formula?

Hi @RadaX,

Ideally your app should use a drop down or combobox to allow the user to select from a list of available fruits. If you're storing the price in the same table as the Fruit, then you should be able to use a formula to calculate the price based on the the value of the selected item in the combobox and the weight entered in another form field (e.g. WeightField.Value * ComboBox1.SelectedItem,'Price Per Gram').

Do you want to update the final price of a fruit?

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Firstly, I think you need a new-friendly tutorial.

1). Create a table in Dataverse so that you could generate an app directly from this data source.

Create a fruit table to save the fruit name and per_gram_price

2). Add columns to display fruit name and per_gram_price, I will make them both Text type.

3). Save the table and generate an app from a Dataverse table as the video describes:

4). You will have an app as below and add the needed fields from the fields tab:

Note that the Name field is required and you could think of it as a duplicated field with the FruitName field.

5). Then you could add records related to fruit name and per_gram_price clicking the "+" icon on the BrowseScreen1.

All the above is the tutorial telling to how to create a table saving the fruit name and per_gram_price.

If you want to add row to another table that includes fruit weight and final fruit price, just do as the above and connect this table to the above app.

Then you could add a dropdown to select fruit name and a Text Input to input the weight,

Dropdown Items property:FruitPrices.FruitName

In addition with a save button to write the following formula to add rows to your fruit order or something like order table:

Thank you all for your replies. The project idea is a little bit more complicated. Basically we have an AI from azure that will scan a image and determine what type of fruit/vegetables the product is (ex tomatoes…). The product being on a scale, the app will receive the weight. Finally having the fruit type and the weight, that app will import the price_per_gram from the database and do the math. The owner should be able to change the price from the database.

It seems that you should hire someone to design a complete project for your need.

We could only provided a simple demo for you only when you have the data set as we have. If you have something AI data import, we could not help you configure the app because it is out of our scope.
