Date Picker shows botched dates

Hi,

I'm building an app using a Form, but the date picker shows weird viewing behaviour (but otherwise technically works fine).

When I'm building, all is well, the view of the app in view is fine. But when the app is published, the date picker is weird. This behaviour has been reproduced in a dev tenant.

Below my view of the date picker in published app :

Anyone knows the solution to this ? I've been thinking about opening the app in vscode to edit it directly but I fear any further edit in low code mode might overwrite my code changes possibly wasting my time trying to fix it manually.

I have attempted to replace the date picker control with a "new" one to remove the one automatically generated by the Form, it shows the same behaviour.

Regards,

Hi ! I submitted a bug report on microsoft support last friday and they helped me solve it just now. So here's the steps to solve the issue :

Step 1 : set authoring version to 3.23033.15 (Settings -> support -> edit authoring version)

Step 2 : activate "try out the modern controls" (Settings -> upcoming feature -> scroll all the way down)

Step 3 : save and publish (wait for publishing to properly update)

Step 4 : deactivate "try out the modern controls"

Step 5 : save and publish

It solved my issue just now on my app, hope it does for you too

Hi @ymaldor,

I've not seen this behaviour before - a few things to check:

  • Does the web browser have zoom applied other than 100%?
  • Does your OS have zoom applied other than 100%?
  • Does this behaviour occur for other web browsers too?
  • Try changing app display settings (in Settings > Display) such as Scale to fit to see if that changes anything

Hi,

Thank you for your answer. The web browser has no particular zoom, the behaviour is the same regardless of whether I zoom in or out. I'm using edge, tried on chrome, same behaviour. Windows zoom is 100%, happens also at 150%. The behaviour to me seems to be about the app and not the browser since one of our company app of whiched the latest version is months (if not a year) old, and it works fine. The date picker of that app is also default.

I tried to make a date picker outside of the Form and its containers, it shows the same behaviour, so it's not related to the form itself or its container.

As for the display settings, here's how they are as we found the bug :

ymaldor_0-1679576396719.png

I tried publishing with different display settings, the behaviour remains the same.

A colleague of mine tried on his dev tenant seeing the same behaviour, the only fix he found was to open the code and change the CSS related to the date picker.

Here's something I found tho. When I edit an empty app created weeks ago to add a date picker and publish it, it works fine. But if on the same tenant I create an app today and add a date picker (and nothing else), it will show the same as the picture I showed before. The behaviour seems to only happen on recent apps. The app I have the bug on I created last tuesday, and the other 2 apps my colleague and I found the bug on were created today. An app created weeks ago does not show the bug even if republished with a new date picker control.

Thanks for the extra info, definitely not behaviour I've seen before.

It's not ideal but a potential short term workaround may be to clone (Save as) one of the existing apps where the bug does not occur when creating new apps.

In the meantime, hopefully one of the PowerApps Product Group notices this post and assists, as per this article:

Hi,

i was looking for the exact same problem. Just found out this bug while working on a new app that i created yesterday.

Just tryed to create a brand new app and the problem is still here, so i think it's a general bug with all the app created in the last few days. Another test that i have done was try to copy paste a working datepicker from an old app and the results are the same, it broke.

All the other power apps still work fine and if you add datepicker they show the day as usual.

Hi @fratrucc ,

My colleague noticed that the new apps draw from a different css file than old apps. That css file being stored by microsoft and not within the app, we can't do much about it. We can't even change the source url of the file to use an older one (or at least we haven't found a way to do that).

So for now all we can do is either, like Keith suggested, copy an old app and go from there, or wait for a fix. I'm opting to wait for a fix given that the bug is not app-breaking and the target audience of my app is generally made of IT people who know this soft of thing is out of my hands, and so the consequence is not dire.

If you do end up looking into the CSS source url and find a way to change it, please let me know.

Another option for you is to copy the Fluent UI date picker from Teams and paste it in to your app.
