Date format showing US date format for some users. How to fix back to UK date format?

Hi,

This is quite odd I and viewing the date format in my powerapp as DD/MM/YYYY and other users are getting MM/DD/YYYY.

I have an indicator attached to this date format and for the users with the US format the indicator does not work properly. (see 2nd attached image). mine is working fine.

I've tried this: Text(ThisItem.StartDate,"[$-en-UK]dd/mm/yyyy") and Text(ThisItem.EndDate,"[$-en-UK]dd/mm/yyyy") with no luck.

in the below example I've set the date for 01/10/2023 to 25/10/2023. This has turned their indicator into 10/01/2023 to 10/25/2023 which does not work as per the image.

I have checked the users date and time settings, and they all look the same pointing to Uk and Australian.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I'm not providing any context so I will start again.

I have made a Gantt calendar view which uses the X position and label width to show the user where in time the specific topic is happening.

The idcator/label has this in it's X value: Value(StartDays.Text) * GanttTasks.Width / 365

in the width: (Value(EndDays.Text) - Value(StartDays.Text)) * GanttTasks.Width / 365

The StartDays have this:  DateDiff(Date(2023,1,1), DateValue(_StartDate.Text ))+1

And, EndDays have this DateDiff(Date(2023,1,1), DateValue(_EndDate.Text))+1

The _StartDate and _EndDate both use this format: Text(ThisItem.EndDate,"dd/mm/yy")

The issue that I am facing is that some users see that above date format as reversed, or in the US format which is: mm/dd/yy. I'm told this is because of their win365 date configuration...

Is there a way to force just one date format in the X position and width?

Thanks,

Phil

Hi @Anonymous ,

I understand your question and is one I have struck before. The issue is if the user types in 11/10/2023 is it 11 October or 10 November ? Basically any date with either month or day being 12 or under is valid under both formats. The only thing you can do is enforce the second figure as being under 13.

I have posted the below before, but I will add it here as well

Hi @WarrenBelz So I found the fix. I ended up changing the columns in sharepoint to date columns with a simple format. which was dd/mm/yyyy for both user variations. looped that back into the app with a patch and it worked.

@WarrenBelz Warren, I know there's nothing you DON'T know, so coming straight to you to ask a direct question.  I've scoured posts endlessly trying to find my answer and can't seem to.  I'm trying to use the Office365Outlook.V4CalendarPostItem feature and just need to either give up or try to dream up a workaround.  Here is the question.

Is there a way to enter a date in US format mm/dd/yyyy in my Power App and have it reflected and added correctly to Outlook calendars used globally that use the dd/mm/yyyy format?

I know how to change formats to stay as one specific region but when using this globally, I constantly have dates flipped so lots of failures regarding dates.  Even if I have the text displayed show correctly, it will still add the dates incorrectly if in a format other than US.  See the following example.

Same exact Power Apps card. The left is what the US sees and the right is what others see and adding to the calendar adds accordingly -- meaning my European associates have this adding to their calendar in November of 2025 when it actually occurs on May 23 2024.

If doable, can you provide some guidance?  If feel I've tried everything.  If not, at least I know I'm not crazy --- not definitively anyway.

Thanks to you or to anyone else who may want to step in and help out here.

Hi @CindyZ ,

There is quite a bit I do not know, particularly if I have never needed to use it . . .  You are correct that Calendar entries can be problematic - the small number I have done have been by using a Flow and sending the ID of the SharePoint record to it, then retrieving the date/time from the record, which is UTC before doing a time zone conversion and sending the invitation from there.

@WarrenBelz As always, Warren, I sincerely appreciate your insight and help.  Looks like I'll probably take a different approach, than I have been, after having hit repeated walls.
