Default dropdown value returns blank

Hallo,

i am trying to connect two applications.

In my second App there is a dropdown the items of which is the collection colMyTravelIDs

in detail is : 

That is because i save the TravelIDs related to the Employee that is logged in, in a multiline text column with the format TR_yyyy_01/TR_yyyy_02/TR_yyyy_15. This list has another column which is the EmployeeName.

The user has to be able to view in this dropdown only IDs he relates to.

In the App.OnStart i create the collection:

ClearCollect(colMyTravelIDs, Filter(list_travel, EmployeeName = gblUser.Info.DisplayName)).

The problem is that another user (different account) has to preview fields on that screen (gblMode = View). The default property of the dropdown is set to 

when the new role opens the screen the dropdown field is blank!!

Any ideas?

I assume each user would be using their own login, so the value would change according to that person when they open the app ?

is the collection the problem ? 

the value selected by the requestor is saved in the second app's relatedTravelRequest Column

I would have thought that

ClearCollect(
   colMyTravelIDs, 
   Filter(
      list_travel, 
      EmployeeName = gblUser.Info.DisplayName
   )
)

would collect the current logged-in user's record. How do you set gblTargetRecord ?

there is a third app which serves as a central management system and redirects to the current App,

The parameters a the unique ID and the form mode (new,view)

then as target record i set

Set(gblTargetRecord,LookUp(currentList,RequestID=gblTargetID).

The 'relatedTravelRequest' Column, is one of the columns in current List.

I am still totally unclear why a different user would produce a different outcome - I assume that 

gblUser.Info.DisplayName

is the name of the current logged-in user (or am I missing something here) - or is it the fact that the opening parameters are not working ?

Yes, gblUser is the current user logged in the app.

However, his display name (if he is the approver) is not filtered in that collection i use to get the relevant requests from the first application.

This dropdown filters the 2 columned list (EmployeeName , RequestIDs) and retrieves Request IDs where the logged in user display name is in that display EmployeeName column. All other accounts (approvers) will not edit the fields of the requestor, it should be view only (display mode of the dropdown is disabled.)

If i use a label with gblTargetRecord.relatedTravelRequest, everyone can see the outcome, but It does not work with the dropdown.

Is the control a drop down or combo box, although it makes no sense to me presently why a label works and the drop down does not.

So you are saying 

gblTargetRecord.relatedTravelRequest

shows the correct value on a label on the screen but not in the Default of the drop down ?

Then it can only be the Variable value at the time.
