DefaultSelected items not filtering gallery but displays value in combobox

Hello and thanks in advance. I have a combobox named CB_Flt_SLT. I am pulling data from a text field in sharepoint via variable in onstart that sets the default selected item. The combobox gets the value but doesn't actually set the combobox value. 

Onstart Variable

Set(varSLT,LookUp('All users',EmployeeEmail=Office365Users.MyProfile().Mail,SLT));

CB_Flt_SLT Properties

Items: Sort(Distinct(WhereAbouts,SLT),ThisRecord.Result)

DefaultSelectedItems: [varSLT]

Check the schema of the record you are using. You may be only getting some of the columns - you might be for instance getting only the column shown, and that's it. This might be happening in some cases when using Distinct for example.
If you happen to have the primary key (such as ID) handy in the result, you should perform the LookUp directly first, then populate the combobox with that record.

You don't seem to be using Dataverse though.

However, in case your issue is somehow similar in nature anyway, this may help. 

One thing you have in common with that thread, is there's a similar pattern - you seem to be able to temporarily be able to achieve the goal if you manually make the selection. This was the same issue in that thread.

I'm not exactly sure that the cause is the same in your case though, but in case it helps, check through that thread. I'd also suggest looking really carefully at the record you are using as the Default. Go as far as to put it in a blank Gallery's Items property if needed just so you can hover over the formula in the formula bar and inspect the record or table schema. If you see a bunch of blank values, or only see two columns, your issue may be similar. If one of the columns is the unique ID, you may be able to solve it by explicitly making a LookUp, and using that as the Default.

Actually, this is an issue related data conflict.

Note that the DefaultSelectedItems of the Combo Box should reflect a value from the Items property, which means that the default selected value of the Combo Box should be retrieved from the table value you set for the Items property of the Combo Box.

The Distinct() function you set for the ComboBox Items returns a Result column value, however, you set the DefaultSelectedItems with a value from another data source, which is data conflict.

You should retrieve varSLT from the Distinct() table as below:

Filter(Sort(Distinct(WhereAbouts,SLT),ThisRecord.Result),Result=varSLT)

Thank you all for the help. Lots of great info and i tried a few different things . QI, your solution worked but to simplify the fetching of the two records i ended up creating a separate SLT list and added the L1 & L2 values. This idea came from the articles PowerActivate sent. thank you both very much!
