Delegation Warning - Do i need to rewrite my formula?

Hello,  this is the first time i am seeing a delegation warning and i am not sure if i need to rewrite my formula, and if so, what i would change to fix this warning message.

If(Toggle1.Value = true, Sort(Filter('PostEnrollment-NB', UnderwriterTxt= Look.Selected.Result &&  'Review Acknowledgement' <> true),ProspectName), Sort(Filter('PostEnrollment-NB', UnderwriterTxt= Look.Selected.Result),ProspectName))

I have an If statement to evalualte which sort/filter to use, based on if the value in toggle1 is true.  if it is true, i am filtering records to see only those where review acknowledgement (the toggler in the edit form) is false, on top of filtering for the person selected in the combobox in the top left.

 is this likely to fail the way that i have it written?

Hi @Frac

This is only worrisome if you have a large data set.  You can adjust the data row limit up to 2000 in your app settings, but if you have more items than that you will see incomplete or incorrect results.

You could also try using the "in" function instead of &&, but it might still give you a warning depending on your data source:

If(
    Toggle1.Value,
    Sort(
        Filter(
            'PostEnrollment-NB',
            UnderwriterTxt in Look.Selected.Result,
            'Review Acknowledgement' <> true
        ),
        ProspectName
    ),
    Sort(
        Filter(
            'PostEnrollment-NB',
            UnderwriterTxt in Look.Selected.Result
        ),
        ProspectName
    )
)

Hey @Frac

A delegation warning is just that, a warning. The thing to take into account is how large your data source is, assuming you've not changed the row limit it'll be 500, meaning if your data is at 500 or below it'll filter fine. You can increase this to a maximum of 2000, at the point if your data source goes over, the filter will begin to fail.

You could also amend your formula to remove the non-delegable function in which case you wouldn't need to worry above the above.

Think the below would work:

If(Toggle1.Value, Sort(Filter('PostEnrollment-NB', UnderwriterTxt= Look.Selected.Result &&  'Review Acknowledgement' = false),ProspectName), Sort(Filter('PostEnrollment-NB', UnderwriterTxt= Look.Selected.Result),ProspectName))

I changed the Toggle1.Value = true to just Toggle1.Value as this returns true when its "on" and changed 'Review Acknowledgement' <> true to 'Review Acknowledgement' = false

@MaximusDecimus I tried your formula and for whatever reason,  it doesnt work when 'Review Acknowledgement' = false instead of <> true.  With that update, all records are hidden, instead of only the ones where review acknowledgement are false.  i really have no idea why this is happening, becase they should be returning the same records.

it did however, get rid of that warnng message

Is your data source SharePoint or an SQL table?

Does the review acknowledgement have a default value that's set when a new record is created? Just thinking that if it doesn't then it would explain why = false doesn't work but <> true does

@Rusk This appears to be working! one follow up question,  every other time i change the user in teh combobox, it selects nothing in the edit form section, instead of the users first record.  it doesnt matter who the person is, it just alternates between showing data, and showing no data.   do you know if there is a refresh command i can add somewhwere to make it load the data?

Frac_0-1678988969473.png

it's a sharepoint list, and does not have a default value, whihc would explain it.  i'm going to update that so it defaults to false

You could add a formula to your OnChange property of the combobox to refresh your data source.  Refresh(YourDataSource).  However I don't know if that will fix the issue you've encountered.  What is the "Items" formula for your form?

@Rusk my "items" is Cases.Selected, which points at the gallery where i'm getting the delegation warning
