Delegation warning. This part "Filter" of this formula might not work correctly on large data sets

I have a PowerApp which uses SharePoint List as its data source. The app is working fine. However, a hazard icon is now appearing over my button which has a filter query on OnSelect with the following message,

Delegation warning. This part "Filter" of this formula might not work correctly on large data sets. The data source might not be able to process the formula and might return an incomplete data set. Your application might not return correct results or behave correctly if the data set is incomplete

I am using the following query,

Refresh('SpList'); Set(filteredItems, Filter('SpList', (Status.Value = "Add new" Or Status.Value = "Rejected") && Register.Email = User().Email)); 
Navigate(scrnDocPending,ScreenTransition.Cover)

This is what I am trying to achieve in the above code,

• Refresh the SharePoint data source, SpList, for new values.
• Filter and store the result in a global object, filteredItems.
• Navigate to a new screen.
• In the new screen, I am using this object, filteredItems, as a data source of a gallery.

Plz advice, how to remove this warning message?

hi @iAm_ManCat ! thanks a ton for the suggestions, really appreciate the help!

We had another requirement to load all the items from the list for the admins so for the time being we decided to load the whole list as in your second suggestion since we were gonna do that anyway for some users.

But, the StartsWith() looks promising. I will try that and let you know.

And as you said, SQL is not an option for us either.

hi @iAm_ManCat , I tried using StartsWith() as well and it doesn't seem we would be able to fulfill the rest of our requirement with this. We plan on using collections for now.

Yes, if you have all the data collected locally then you don't need to worry about delegation and can search the local collection using any of the operators so could stick with 'in'

The issue is simply because the designer might confuse with another variable or another column with the same name as Status or Register.

Power Apps designer is context-based, which means you can re-use the same variable for a completely different purpose, or maybe it's confused that there are potentially other data sources with that same column name. You can even end up in an error that can be fixed just by closing the designer and reopening it again.

The fix is simple, just add ThisItem so that the formula checker understands that you explicitly mean the Status or Register of the 'SpList', not any other data source(s) or variable(s).

Set(filteredItems, Filter('SpList', (ThisItem.Status.Value = "Add new" Or ThisItem.Status.Value = "Rejected") && ThisItem.Register.Email = User().Email));
