Does Microsft business standard license allow users to use Power Apps canvas which connect to SharePoint on both web browsers and mobile app

We want to develop around 5 canvas applications which connect to SharePoint . so does business standard license sufficient for this and will allow the user to access the canvas app on both web browsers and mobile app?

Thanks

When I checked  E1 is more expensive than power app per user per month.  Unless you need mailbox and all other apps that come along with E1 , power app per user per month works out good.

@johnjohn123,

I think there may be some overlap between that question and your other topic discussing Microsoft Business Premium. Microsoft Business Premium is also a seeded license and does not provide premium Power Apps & Automate capabilities. You will need to extend your Microsoft license with a standalone premium Power Apps license (should the goal be increasing the API limit & using premium features -> go for Power Apps Premium / previously called Power Apps Per User). In other words, you would be 'stacking' licenses and not upgrading an existing one.

As for which Microsoft / Office license to pick at the start - make sure it is present within Appendix B and has Apps & Automate use rights. I mainly focus on Power Platform Licensing, so I unfortunately am limited in providing advice on the Enterprise, Business & Office licenses outside the scope of Power Platform.

I see that multiple licensing-related topics have been opened. In order to avoid overlap between them and since the initial question was answered - would it be possible to close the topic by accepting a solution? 😊

Note: Reading back I probably should have been more specific regarding 'premium' and 'non-premium' licensing. With non-premium I mean the seeded licenses that only have limited Power Apps use rights. 'Premium' licenses refer to Power Apps specific standalone licenses (I did not mean Microsoft Business Premium). My apologies!

I hope this helps!

The E1 license and the Power Apps premium license cover different things. The E1 license is for Microsoft 365 and includes Power Apps with standard connectors. The Power Apps license covers standard or premium connectors but doesn't cover things like SharePoint. So if you want to use something other than Dataverse or SQL as the data source you need the E1 license to give you access to SharePoint or OneDrive. But the cost is the same no matter what order you purchase the licenses in.  They cover different things but there is some overlap.

@Pstork1 Thanks for the answer... now we want the folloiwng:-

1) Power Apps which connect to SharePoint

2) but we need the users to be able to perform more than 6,000 requests/calls per 24 hours..

so we need the premium license not to connect to Dataverse, but to connect to SharePoint and allow more than 6,000 requests per 24 hours to be made from Power apps per user.. so seems we need 2 licenses for each user; E1 and Power Apps Premium licenses for each user? or this is not the right case?

@Pstork1   IMO , Power app premium should also include standard connectors  in the sense that sharepoint, one drive connectors. What it would not include is mailbox if app wants to send an email

@johnjohn123   IMO if you want to use sharepoint and not have to worry about more than 6K requests per 24 hours , power apps premium should be sufficient.

@LaurensM thanks again for the help, so the case will be that the users will need E1 to have mailbox & SharePoint + Power app Premium license to get 40,000 requests each 24 hours insdie Power Apps? correct?

@SVS_BI thanks for the info, so power apps premium will cover SharePoint and once-drive but will not cover having a mailbox, am i correct?

The Power Apps license won't cover SharePoint, so you need the E1 for that.  But you'll also need the Premium license if you want each user to do more than 6,000 requests per 24 hour period. So yes, you would need both.  But I highly doubt all your users will be doing more than 6,000 requests in a 24 hour period.  If SharePoint is the data source you only need the premium license when a user consistently runs over their 24 hour limit. And then you only need it for that one user.

@SVS_BI Power Apps premium covers the use of the standard connector, but not the security permissions to SharePoint. They need the E1 license to have access to SharePoint. The standard connector can be used to access SharePoint but you still need a license to have the permission to access SharePoint.  In the same way it won't give you access to an Exchange Online/Outlook mailbox.

If SharePoint is the back end then the Power Apps Premium license will NOT be sufficient because it doesn't give any security rights to SharePoint itself.  Only the right to connect to SharePoint.
