Dropdown menu is not collapsing

Huge bug that needs a hotfix asap: dropdown menus are not closing after you select an item. The items remain open and continue to show up on other screens you navigate to.

I have already sent in a bug report. I am posting this as a heads up for those who rely heavily on dropdown menus like me.

Hi Mr-dang,

I have a Dropdown control in my App, I configure the Items property of the control to DataSource.Title, it works as normal. After I select an item, the menus would be closed.

To reproduce this issue, please provide information about:
1.How is your Dropdown control configured?
2.How many data are there in your data source?
3.Could you try to save the App then close and re-open it to see if it works?

Best regards,
Mabel Mao

Mr-dang,

I'm seeing the same behaviour in an App where this was working fin last week and no changes have been made to it since then.  Its unlikely something in the config of the drop down as this was working as expected.

Has a new client version been pushed out in the last day or two?

Hi Mr-dang,

Thank you for reporting this issue!

Is this happening while authoring the app or running the app? And on what platform?

Thanks!

Spencer

iPad app: no issue

PowerApps Studio in edit mode: no issue

PowerApps Studio in app mode: no issue

Edge Browser: problematic

Chrome Browser: problematic

It seems to be a browser-only problem so far, but that's what my users use since they are on Chromebooks. I don't have any alternatives for them at this time.

Here are some steps (also reported to PG):

  1. Create a new blank app.
  2. Add a dropdown menu. You do not need to change the Items.
  3. Save the app to the cloud.
  4. Open the app in a web browser.
  5. Click the dropdown menu. You can click items, but the dropdown items will not hide upon selecting one.

Again, this seems to be a browser-only deficiency.

Thank you for your detailed steps for reproducing the issue!

We have identified the issue and it will be fixed in an upcoming release.

Thanks!

Spencer

Happening to me too

Is there a workaround for this issue? Renders an app useless seeing this in every screen 😞

@arnonel, I don't have an efficient work around. What I have done in the mean time is use another control that outputs the same information. In my case, my dropdown menus were known items (usernames), so I used a InputText field with an OnChange property set to:

UpdateContext({User: InputText1.Text});

UpdateContext({resetuser: !resetuser});
UpdateContext({resetuser: !resetuser})

The InputText control resets the existing dropdown menu to pick the item that you type. You will need to set the existing Dropdown properties this way:

Dropdown1.Reset: resetuser

Dropdown1.Default: User

The solution above only works if you have known items that could be typed up and matched with Dropdown.Items. If you have the space, you can use a Listbox in place of the dropdown. If your Dropdown items are numerical, you can replace it with a Slider.

I imagine you could setup a vertical Gallery which shows only one item at a time with a scrollbar to replicate similar mechanism as the dropdown--this will take more time, but probably has more flexibility in formatting and ability.

@SpencerLynn: is there an ETA on when the fix will be rolled out?
