Edit form not showing correct Cascading Dropdown value

Good morning,
I posted something similar yesterday and didn't get a reply. Maybe I didn't explain the issue correctly, so I am trying again.

I have two fields that work together.
The "Device Type" Field and the "Model Field"

The Model No field on the form is a cascading dropdown field that gets its information from the "Models" list.
There are two columns in the list Title and Device Type. Below is what I am using in the Items property for the Model No field.

Filter(Model,'Device Type'= DataCardValue33.Selected.Result)

This works well for a new form but when I open an edit form it shows all the available choices, but it should show/highlight the choice I originally made in the new form, but it doesn't.

I hope this is clearer.

@golfnutt82 You have to set the Default property of that dropdown to Parent.Default

Hello and thank you for your reply.
I created many custom fields that acted as lookups and those fields did not have "Parent.Default" as the default property setting. I updated those and it works. However, I have another question, whats the difference between Parent.Default and ThisItem.<field name>?

@golfnutt82 Parent refers to the parent control of the current control. In your case the parent of the dropdown is the datacard.

I am having the same issue but my column Items are:

Distinct(listname.columnname) for the "Mfg" 

Distinct(Filter(ListName,1stcolumnname = DataCardValue##.Selected.Value),2ndcolumnname)

When I try to apply the suggested fix it does not work.  Any help is appreciated.
