Editing attachment patch error

I have set up a power app based off a SharePoint list, where I can open an attachment in a browser and edit the file.

When I close the file and click save the apps works as expected but if I open, edit and close the attachment and then change the form drop down status to “finished” I get a patch error…

”network error when using patch function”

I don’t actually have any patch function set up or assigned to any buttons etc.

Error occurs when I edit an attachment and edit the form but not when I do ether task individually and then save .

Any idea what’s going on or how to fix it???

The problem is likely linked to an etag mismatch. This occurs when a record is edited outside of Power Apps, like opening an attachment, making edits, and saving it. The record changes, but Power Apps isn't aware of these modifications (etag is a property that tracks record changes). If you need to modify the record after updating the attachment, it's essential to refresh the data source before triggering your save event (be it through Patch or SubmitForm).

I am very new to Power Apps, is there a way to auto save the form when an attachment is edited and then closed in the browser or would i have to set the refresh as an action on a button?

Alternatively would i need to patch the whole form or specific fields?

Sorry for the vague post but i'm not 100% sure how to phrase the question correctly.

Essentially i want to open and edit an attachment, then update the status and date then save but i can only do one (not both).

There are multiple other fields on the form (on different tabs) but these are the only ones i'm concerned with in this senario.

To try and answer your questions:

Answer: Autosaving based on attachment edits isn't feasible within Power Apps since this action occurs outside of the application. Thus, there's no built-in mechanism to trigger an autosave in response to attachment edits.

2. Alternatively would i need to patch the whole form or specific fields?

Answer: If the structure is a form, incorporating a refresh before the SubmitForm event could be the solution. 

Assuming the error occurs upon clicking the "Save & Close" button, if you provide your OnSelect button code, I can try to help your further.

My save button is submit(sharepointform1)

If I set a refresh before the submit action then won’t that revert my status and date fields back to their original/default values?

so is loose the data id entered and id then have to re-enter it.

It did not according to my testing.  The refresh does not reset the form, it just ensures your are working with the latest version.
