Error Loading Data Source on PowerApps customised form

Users have been getting a server response error when loading a list customised in powerapps. The error(attached) seems to be for most of the data sources in the app. I have tried to delete the data source and replaced them, but that doesn't fix the issue. In fact adding the data source back takes several tries and sometimes i am given an error message that "the data source could not be loaded correctly".
But when i eventually load the data source and try to refresh, it says “the request was not sent or there was no response from the server. Please check your internet connection”. i'm not sure if this is a vpn/firewall issue.  After several tries it refreshes(by several i mean ~20 times. there is no maths to it. it could take longer or shorter). My internet is fin by the way
The constant is that i get the null error message in the attached image. regardless of what i do with the data sources nothing changes

Is this a firewall issue, any pointers? it also happens to other apps as well

Hi,

A lot of questions....

Where is the data source? Is is SharePoint or other? etc...

Send me a note at jay@research-nest.com and I will send a teams pointer to see if I can help you,

As of yesterday (June 13) we have EXACTLY the same issue...

Have tried various things like duplicating the screen. Nothing we have tried seems to fix the data source connection to SharePoint, it is broken...

We noticed there was a PowerApps update recently.  Not sure if it is related to this issue, but it does feel like too much of a coincidence to be totally unrelated.

This worked absolutely fine previously. It is not a complicated app, it is a very simple form connected to a very simple list.  The data source is to a very simple custom list in SharePoint.  We were creating a custom form to enhance the user experience when submitting new items, using radio button controls.

We are NOT using experimental features.  The only preview feature being used is "components".

The one thing we did notice is the new setting under the (overall) app settings, under "advanced settings".  The new experience for data sources was switched on, but we do not recall if that was something we did at the beginning or it was done after the upgrade.  For sure WE did NOT change it recently.  That seems to require that all data sources are removed and replaced before being used.  Could be the upgrade switched that on?

Anyway, we are VERY UNHAPPY to say that switching that new experience for data sources off and trying to recreate the data source - ALSO DOES NOT WORK.  No matter what we do, it seems the only response we get from trying to connect to our Sharepoint is "The request was not sent or there was no response from the server. Check your internet connection."

Could be another coincidence, but ...   Now the app does not show on the list of apps in the main power apps "my apps" or "org apps" list.

So this issue does NOT appear to relate to our power app.  This issue seems to be something to do with data sources connecting to SharePoint......

Have tried this with other lists, SAME issue.

Now just tried to create a simple test list from scratch, and have an issue with that also!  We can create the list, but when we try to access the list settings we get a screen that simply says, "Error - file not found"???!

Sorry, i hadn't realised i left this thread open. We finally got to fix the issue , the company that i work for had firewalls that were blocking the services powerapps required. So it may be good to check with your network team first to check that the services are not being blocked. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/limits-and-config#required-services

HI if you want I am in this teams meeting room now

Hi, all.

Is there a solution to this issue?

An, otherwise working, App connection to a Sharepoint list is giving me the same error when trying to refresh: "The request was not sent or there was no response from the server. Check your internet connection".

I am certainly connected to the internet, I can access the data source on Sharepoint through the Edit option of the table on the Connection tab (it properly takes me to the Sharepoint list) and I have also reconnected to Sharepoint through the PowerApps Dashboard/Connections.
Any attempt to build a connection in the same environment gives the same error, even if I build a new App.

Any insight?

Thanks,

Saul

HI,

When you connect to the powerapps connection area can you refresh the data?

Try clearconnect and se if you can load the dataset into memory?

Let us know if any of this helps

Hi, Jay.

When I connect to the powerapp connection area and try to refresh, I get the same error. See below.

Did you mean the clearcollect? It shows the same error. If its clearconnect, I would need more details.

Thanks for the quick reply!

@SaulWilson i eventually solved this issue.  Some PowerApps services were being blocked by the company vpn. you will need to ensure that all the services powerapps are is whitelisted. This maybe something to raise with the network team in your office.
