Error messages if required fields not filled.

Hi

I have a powerapps form connected to a SharePoint list.

I have set OnFailure = ResetForm(SharePointForm1);Navigate(FailMessage, ScreenTransition.CoverRight)

I have a couple of issues.

1. I dont want it to take me to the Failure screen if a required field is not filled, then i just want a notification displaying what fields the user needs to fill out.

2. On my Failure Screen if i add a button on the OnSelect = Back() it will actually display the information from another item then the one i was filling out. It always displays the same item if i use Back().

I have strugled with both so currently i have temporar removed required fields but i would like that to work as inteended to. My Failure screen is only to be displayed if errors not releated to required fields basicly.

If you want the back button to take you back to the form, so the user can correct the error and submit the form then you need to remove the "ResetForm(SharePointForm1);" from the OnFailure property. 

If you don't want the OnFailure to trigger on required fields then you would need to add a bunch of nested If() for the required fields around the SubmitForm().

I want it to trigger a notify message if required fields are not filled in.

But i want it to move to the error screen i create if it fails in other things then i want it to move to the error screen i created.

Do you want to display a notification message when some Required fields are not filled rather than navigate to FailMessage screen?

For your first question, if you just want to display a notification message when some Required fields are not filled rather than navigate to FailMessage screen, I think the If function could achieve your needs.

I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:

Set the OnSave property of SharePointIntegration control to following:

If(
    IsBlank(DataCardValue1.Text),
    Notify("The Required Field Column1 could not Blank!", NotificationType.Error),
    IsBlank(DataCardValue2.Text),
    Notify("The Required Field Column2 could not Blank!", NotificationType.Error),
    IsBlank(DataCardValue3.Text),
    Notify("The Required Field Column3 could not Blank!", NotificationType.Error),
    ...
    ...,
    SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)
)

Note: The DataCardValue1, DataCardValue2, DataCardValue3, ... represents the Text Input box within the Required field data card.

For your second question, I think this issue is related to the ResetForm(SharePointForm1) formula you used in the OnFailure property of the SharePointForm1.

If the OnFailure property is fired, the ResetForm(...) function would be executed, then your SharePointForm1 would be reset. In default, the SharePointForm1 would display the first item in your SP list data source, because the Item property of the SharePointForm1 has been set to following:

   IsBlank(SharePointIntegration.Selected) || IsEmpty(SharePointIntegration.Selected), 
   First('YourListName'),                /* <-- In default, display the first item in SP list data source */
   SharePointIntegration.Selected
)

As an alternative solution, please consider remove the ResetForm(SharePointForm1) formula from the OnFailure property of the SharePointForm1, then when you click "Back" button, it would remain the previous filled data within the SharePointForm1.

Please take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.

This seems to solve evrything.

Im struggling a little bit with how to solve the issue of me having some fields only visible for some categorys from a choic column, if i set a field that is hidden from some users to Notify if not filled in then this message will show even if that user does not have the column visible in its form.

For Example.
Field: Approver is only visible if Field Category = Access Rights.

If i set Approver to be required it will display the error notifcation message because its empy but the user does not see that field if he/she does not pick Category = Access Rights

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the If function could achieve your needs.

Within your Edit form, you could consider control the Approval field data card's visible based on the Category field value. On your side, please set the Visible property of the Approval Field data card in your Edit form to following:

Then modify the formula within the OnSave property of SharePointIntegration control to following:
