Hello,
I've an issue with an excel table that powerapps still insist it's locked. So far I've been trying troubleshooting by;
1. Format table
2. Ensure there are no formulas and all data is raw
3. Check that table or so is NOT protected
4. right-click file and check if its writeprotected and it is not
I am running out of options, with what might be faulty. So I need second opinion from someone else that can try reproduce error.

EDIT: Magically it started to work, after 4 hours of troubleshooting. I didn't do anything and then it just started to work. However that might be an issue, that files are said to be locked and after random hours it is not anymore.

Hi tofsweden,
I am very glad to hear that the app is working for you now.
When using Excel as data source, we should format the Excel data as a table, then store the Excel file in a cloud-storage account, such as OneDrive, then connect from PowerApps to the cloud-storage account, and then add the Excel table as a data source. Then when you create an app based on the Excel file, you will be able to save data from PowerApps to Excel. Please check this doc for more details:

Got this same issue. Powerapps behaves very strangely. I have two named tables in the same excel workbook, but Powerapps will only draw the data through on one of them. The tables are identical in structure.
While the data pulls through for one of the tables, I cannot edit any entries or add any new, getting an error message:
The requested resource is locked. Server response: Cannot write file to file source. File is being locked. clinetRequestId:.....-.......-.......
The excel workbook is saved in Onedrive for Business and I have shared it with others. I cannot figure out what is locking my file.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks
Stuart
Hi Mabel,
I am getting resource is locked error intermittently. I am wondering is this only happening to Excel OneDrive connection.
Similarly to tofsweden, the problem sometimes just go away after some hours without me doing anything. I think this is a serious matter and Microsoft should try to find out the root cause why this is happening.
I have an attachment to show you the issue.
Thanks

Hi I have an app connected to Excel saved in Onedrive for Business..My users recently feedback to me that they encountered the error "Cannot write file to filesource" when trying to submit which did not happen in the past. I did some troubleshooting and somehow realized that when the Excel file is opened in my PC, users would encounter the error when trying to submit concurrently. There seems to be some clash between these two systems. Would appreciate if anyone could advise on how this can be resolved.

Hi ngabougaifan
I think you have send a ticket to get them to resolve for you. It could be a case by case basis.
Mine was somewhat solved but yes you should not open the file when the users are using the powerapps that connects to the specific one drive Excel file.
For my case, the file was not opened but i still get that error. I suspect it has to do with Refresh. As in the last transaction was not refreshed fast enough before the next starts to content with it. Nonethless, my issue was escalated to the product team and they have advised to not open the file in Excel while using it in powerapps.
My opinion if you dont mind - try not to use Excel unless is really a very simple app.
Cheers,
BY
I also have a similar issue with Excel. At times my users come back to me saying that they are getting an error when update or add record is executed. The issue doesn't happen if they try after sometime
I dont keep the excel open. That might mean either multiple users are trying to update the excel simultaneously or the someone has left there powerapp open and it is still locking the excel (maybe).
Has anyone figured a solution to this problem?
Excel in one drive is the only solution I can currently use as I also have a powerBI report that reads from this excel and displays a dashboard.
Hello
it seems this is a problem for a few people, me too
I have an app that reads from a spreadsheet in OneDrive. I have 10 users that have no problem but 2 that do
Permissions are granted at the file level and those users that cannot use the app on iOS can use it in windows (so I dont think permissions are the issue).
Tried re-installing the app, loging out and loging back in ect.
I do have a session id for 'problem' users but I'm not sure how to proceed.
Any ideas?
