Filter a gallery with items within the gallery

Hello,

I am having a circular reference error and have a hard time thinking of a way to workaround this. I have a user gallery that shows all the Office365Users, and a dropdown where it filters by the department. Everything until now works fine, but I want to add another dropdown to filter the location, this location is set in another screen and its shown in the gallery, see picture.

Workplace is the location dropdown where I have ["All", "Cambridge", "Providence", "WFH"], I would like to filter the users by the location as well. The location is stored in a Sharepoint list.

Thank you for sharing all these details. I guess the answer to your problem is quite simple. But your App needs some work to transition to the proposed solution.

Where the problem might reside is that your data is set up more as an Excel file than as a database.

If you store your data about someone's wherabouts in a column per day, it is hard to filter on Cambridge, because it can be in any column. A better way to store your data is to have only 3 columns Name, Location and Date. In this way it is easier to filter your data on location. And it is also way easier to maintain in the course of time. (what is your current approach if you plan 3 weeks ahead and it is 4 weeks later? Or someone updates their schedule every 2 weeks?)

If you change your data setup, you of course need to change how data entry is stored and how the view is filled. But this is what I would propose. If you run into trouble pivoting your data of setting up new formula's for your entry and views, I'd be glad to help...

To be able to help you, I have a few questions:

- How is your SharePoint list set up? Could you share a Screen shot?

- What is the desired effect of your filter? If you would filter for Cambridge in the above screen shot, would it filter out WFH? Or would it filter out people that are not in Cambridge in the week shown? And maybe even the million dollar question: for what reason would a user use this filter?

- Could you share the code that creates the circular reference and possibly the specific error message?

Hello,

Here is how my Sharepoint List is set up:

Henryxia_0-1709560690511.png

The name is the email address of the user, and I have set the rest as Monday1, Tuesday1...until Friday3. The point on having this powerapps is to let other users know where the employees are going to be working for the next three weeks.

Within the gallery, I have different labels for each day (Monday1, Tuesday1...Friday3), these would display whatever the user have set on the previous screen (see screenshot) and pull that from the Sharepoint list.

What I want to achieve is to filter people's work location on that day, if the filter is set for Cambridge and today is Monday for example, I would like the gallery to show only people in Cambridge and filter the rest out.

For the code, I was trying to filter based on the label inside the Gallery but it gave me the error, see screenshot

I hope this clarifies what I want to achieve...

Also to mention, if a user is in Cambridge today, then the title (his name) is filled with the color green, if it is WFH, is blue, if Providence then its yellow.

Thank you for your help @RogierE

Thank you @RogierE After your text, I was trying to filter the gallery using the SharePoint list instead, and I was able to do it.
Here's how I did it:
